Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee (PPC) has just approved the investment policy for two wind power projects with a total capacity of 150 MW including Ia Le1project (in Ia Le commune) with a capacity of 100 MW and average annual generation of 320.683 GWh, invested by Cao Nguyen 1 Wind Power Development JS Company with 4,021 billion VND and 50 MW Nhon Hoa 2 project  (in Chu Don commune) invested by Nhon Hoa 2 Energy JS Company with 1,400 billion VND.

The Southern Power Corporation (EVN SPC) launched a project to provide electricity to rural households in the southernmost province of Ca Mau on September 21.

On April 15, PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) had a meeting with the leaders of Ca Mau province on Ca Mau 3 power project.

On May 2, 2018 in An Khanh industrial zone, U Minh district, Ca Mau province, Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) held the Inauguration ceremony of Ca Mau gas processing plant. The National Assembly Chairman Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended and spoke at the ceremony.

Construction commenced on a wind power plant in Dat Mui Commune of Ngoc Hien District in the far-southern province of Ca Mau on September 27.

On February 7 morning, the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived Ca Mau Gas - Power- Fertilizer Industry Zone (Khanh An commune, U Minh Dist., Ca Mau province) for attending the ceremony for starting the construction of Ca Mau Gas Processing Project and welcoming the safe transportation of 10 billion cubic meters of gas from  PM3-CAA to Ca Mau.

The Ca Mau Department of Industry and Trade (CMDOIT) has just submitted a document proposing the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) consider Ca Mau province to develop 41 new power projects including 29 onshore, near-shore and offshore wind power projects; 10 gas power and other power projects and 2 wind and solar power projects for hydrogen production.

Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has approved  "Wind Power Development Planning of Ca Mau province to 2020 with a vision up to 2030".

The Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee (PPC) has just requested the PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) as an investor to urgently complete the necessary documents and procedures for Ca Mau PPC as soon as possible to submit to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) for considering and additionally approving Ca Mau 3 combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) project using liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Khanh An Industrial Park, U Minh district into the National Power Development Planning.

Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee (PPC) informed that although the investors proposed many clean power projects (wind, solar, gas ...), but the projects were  implemented relatively slowly, not ensuring the proposed progress, affecting the effectiveness to call investment in the area.

A gas processing plant in U Minh district of the southernmost province of Ca Mau, designed with a capacity of 6.2 million cubic metres per day, will finish trial operations and begin commercial production in June 2017.

Prime Minister (PM) has agreed on policy to invest a 100MW wind power project in Khai  Long tourist resort - Ca Mau province (phase 1). This project will be connected to the national power system and selling electricity to Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) through a power purchase contract.

According to PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) information, on November 17th , 2014, Ca Mau Thermal Power Plant reached a 50 million kWh generation milestone, after an over 7 year operation period.

On December 15, 2021, in Hanoi, PetroVietnam Power Corporation - JSC (PV Power) and Vietnam Electricity (EVN) signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for Ca Mau1 and 2 Power Plants 1 and 2.
