The Office of Hai Phong City People’s Committee (CPC) informed: Mr. Nguyen Van Tung – Chairman of Hai Phong CPC has just had a working meeting with Storm Capital Partners, a Company from United Kingdom (UK) and Viet Phat Real Estate Development JSC on investment in a floating LNG fired power plant with a capacity of 450 – 600 MW and a total investment capital of US$ 582 million on Hai Phong sea.  

The Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Party Committee has agreed with the investment policy and proposal to include two LNG Gas Turbine Combined Cycle (GTCC) with a total capacity of 6,100 MW in Tien Lang 1 Industrial Park, Hung Thang commune, Tien Lang district and Cai Trap island, Cat Hai district in the Power Development Plan (PDP) VIII.

By taking various measures, Ho Chi Minh City aims to save 1.5 – 2 percent of commercial electricity output each year as from 2019.

On October 16, at Northwest Solid Waste Treatment Complex (Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City), Tam Sinh Nghia Investment and Development Joint Stock Company started construction of Tam Sinh Nghia Waste-to-Energy Project with a capacity of 40 MW. ABB has just inaugurated the solar power system with a capacity of 75kW in ABB Plant for High Voltage Equipment and Medium Voltage Electricity Distribution Solutions in Bac Ninh city. 

Can Tho City People's Committee has handed the Investment License for a waste-to-energy plant of China Ever-bright International Ltd. This is a project of solid waste treatment with the technology of waste incineration to generate electricity.

On November 22, 2018, at the Northwest Solid Waste Treatment Complex in Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in coordination with Tasco Joint Stock Company Solid started construction of the Tasco - Cu Chi Waste - to -Energy project.

According to the agreement between The Grand Ho Tram Strip (HTP) and Petrovietnam Low Pressure Gas Distribution Joint Stock Company (PV GasD), a Cogeneration plant developed in form of Build – Own – Operate (BOO) on an area of 164 ha exploiting by HTP in Vung Tau city will be started for construction by the end of 2017 and put into operation by the end of 2018.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang asked for US assistance in responding to climate change in Vietnam while receiving US Ambassador Ted Osius in the city to Vietnam on April 14.
