Starting the second Waste-to-Energy project in Ho Chi Minh city

 - On October 16, at Northwest Solid Waste Treatment Complex (Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City), Tam Sinh Nghia Investment and Development Joint Stock Company started construction of Tam Sinh Nghia Waste-to-Energy Project with a capacity of 40 MW. The project valued for 5000 billion VND will process 2,000 tons of waste per day.

The Tam Sinh Nghia project applies German Martin Grade waste fired technology a closed technology from the receiving stage to the final discharge stage, without smelling the bad odors and suitable for condition of unsorted waste at the upstream in Vietnam. At present this technology is using in 40 countries around the world.

This second Waste-to-Energy Project in Ho Chi Minh  City is constructed on an area of 8 ha in territory of 20 ha of the existing Cu Chi Waste-to-Energy Project. The project implementation has been completed in 22 months including 18 months for construction, and 4 months for adjustment and test operation.

According to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, every day the city has to handle more than 9,000 tons of the waste, not including industrial and medical one. Therefore, in the near future, the city will construct Da Phuoc Waste-to-Energy Project for increasing the total capacity of waste processing in city to over 7,000 tons per day supplying the Waste-to-Energy Projects of Vietstar, Tam Sinh Nghia, Da Phuoc and Environment Company.

In addition, from now to 2020, the city will bid to select two more Waste-to-Energy Projects with a total processing capacity of 2,000 tons per day to increase the total waste processing of the city to 9,000 tons per day.

Thus, by 2020, more than 50% of the household waste of the HCM city will be treated by waste-to-energy technology.

For Tam Sinh Nghia Investment and Development Joint Stock Company in particular, if the phase 1 stably operates, the City People's Committee will permit the company to carry out phase 2 with a capacity of 3,000 tons of waste per day on the existing area of 20 ha, thereby raising the total waste processing capacity of its waste-to-energy projects to 5,000 tons per day.
