| Leaders of EVN and VNU signed the cooperation agreement in the presence of distinguished delegates. |
Under the agreement, EVN and VNU will focus their cooperation on four key pillars: enhancing power grid operation and transmission capacity through the application of artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and digital technologies; supporting the large-scale integration of renewable energy to improve power system stability and controllability; promoting digital transformation and innovation through the development of data platforms and technological solutions for governance and operations; and developing human resources through specialized training and capacity-building programs aligned with EVN’s practical needs.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, EVN President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan noted that the Group is facing major challenges in ensuring electricity supply, advancing energy transition, and promoting technological innovation. In addition to practical experience, EVN requires close cooperation with leading education and research institutions to strengthen its theoretical and academic foundation, thereby contributing to the effective implementation of the power sector’s strategic missions.
As Vietnam accelerates the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, the power sector is also stepping up the application of new technologies to enhance governance and operational efficiency. At the same time, the requirements to ensure energy security, promote energy transition, and achieve sustainable development are placing increasingly high demands on planning, investment, system operation, and the quality of human resources.
Against this backdrop, strengthening linkages between state-owned enterprises that play a pivotal role in the economy and leading education and research institutions is considered an appropriate approach, helping to closely connect training and research with the practical needs of production and business activities.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Minh Son, President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, VNU currently comprises more than 20 member training and research units. During the 2020–2025 period, over 3,000 EVN officers and employees participated in training and professional development programs at VNU, while more than 100 thematic workshops on governance, digital transformation, and sustainable development were organized, attracting over 5,000 participants. Since 2022, EVN has also sponsored 200 scholarships for VNU students, with a total value of VND 2 billion.
Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Minh Son emphasized that this cooperation agreement represents a concrete implementation of major national policies on science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation, and education and training. He also reaffirmed that VNU considers accompanying EVN in developing high-quality human resources a shared responsibility, and expressed his expectation that this cooperation model will become a highlight in strengthening linkages between universities, enterprises, and the state, making a practical contribution to enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.
Both sides are committed to close coordination and to translating the agreed cooperation contents into annual implementation plans, ensuring effective alignment between training, research, and practical production and business activities, thereby contributing to sustainable development goals and strengthening the economy’s self-reliance.
Previously, on June 6 in Hanoi, EVN and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) also signed a cooperation agreement for the 2025–2030 period, focusing on the development of high-quality technical human resources, scientific research, technology transfer, and the application of digital solutions to support the development of the power sector./.
