The Prime Minister has approved the content of the project on the National Power Development Planning in 2021 – 2030 period with a vision up to 2045 (PDP VIII).

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) just held a meeting to discuss the implementation plan of Power Development Planning (PDP) VIII. Mr. Dang Huy Cuong – A Member of the EVN Board Member Council in charge of EVN's Member Council chaired the meeting.

The Government Office has just issued a notice on the conclusions of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at the meeting on perfecting the National Power Development Planning for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (PDP VIII). The Government Office has just issued Document No 206/TB-VPCP announcing the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh at the working session on the report for supplementing and clarifying a number of contents of the Power Development Planning VIII (PDP VIII) according to Official Document No 3787/BCT-ĐL dated July 4, 2022 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT).

The Government Office has just issued an announcement No 55/TB-VPCP dated February 26, 2022, the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Le Van Thanh at the meeting on the completion of the national power development planning in the 2021 – 2030 period and vision to 2045 (PDP VIII).

Information from Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, on December 29, 2020, the provincial People's Committee reported to the Prime Minister on the addition of the Binh Dinh offshore wind power plant to the National Power Development Plan in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision up to 2045 (PDP VIII) as a basis for project investment promotion in accordance with the law.

The Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Party Committee has agreed with the investment policy and proposal to include two LNG Gas Turbine Combined Cycle (GTCC) with a total capacity of 6,100 MW in Tien Lang 1 Industrial Park, Hung Thang commune, Tien Lang district and Cai Trap island, Cat Hai district in the Power Development Plan (PDP) VIII.

Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee (PPC) has just issued a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) with a proposal to converse in Power Development Planning VIII (PDPVIII) Vung Ang power center 3 (Vung Ang 3&4 projects) from coal to LNG burning and increase capacity of this center from 2400 to 4800 MW.

According to the reliable update information, there are 13 power plants in Power Development Planning VII (adjusted) with a total capacity of 17,040 MW could not be put into operation in the 2026 – 2030 period due to a number of reasons as a capital lack, fuel transition, investor transition, project return or project site failure…

The Party Staff-Member Board of Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has just issued Resolution No. 21-NQ/BCSĐ, dated January 10, 2020 on the principles and  processes for adjusting and supplementing the power projects into the power development planning (PDP) in an order of prioritizing the grid first, power plant latter, and prioritizing the areas with a few renewable energy (RE) projects and areas with an ability to release capacities of power plants.

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) informed: Recently, there a number of power grid projects for releasing power of solar and wind projects was completed over progress. However, to strengthen the ability of the power grids for releasing power of renewable energy (RE) in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces, EVN proposes to supplement a number  of power grid projects in these provinces to the power development planning (PDP).

The Prime Minister has agreed to supplement An Tho wind power project (phase I) with a capacity of 200 MW into Adjusted National Power Development Planning (PDP+). This is a largest wind power project in Vietnam so far. 

Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee (PPC) has just submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister (PM) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to add 22,342 MW to the National Electricity Development Planning (PDP) for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision up to 2045 (PDP VIII).
