The first wind power plants in Soc Trang province, including Lac Hoa wind power, Quoc Vinh wind power and wind power No. 7 have just been closed by the Southern Power System Dispatch Center (A2) and the investors have successful energizing.

The Prime Minister issued Decision No.2414 dated December 11, 2013 on amending the list and schedule of a number of power projects in the period 2013-2020, stipulating some special mechanisms and policies for implementing urgent power projects in order to meet  power demand in 2014-2020 and after 2020 periods.

Dong Nai People's Committee has just submitted a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) for considering and appraising 8 solar power projects to submit to the Prime Minister for additional approving these projects to the National Power Development Planning (NPDP) up to 2025.

Prime Minister has accepted the proposal of Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) to correct the coal-fired thermal power projects in Adjusted Power Planning VII by adjusting the capacity of An Khanh project (in Bac Giang province with an old name as Luc Nam) from 100 MW to 650 MW and supplementing an independent project (IPP) of 100 MW (2x50 MW) for electricity supplying Duc Giang Chemical Joint-Stock Company (Lao Cai province) without connection with national power system.

At the present, the situations on implementing Vung Ang 2, Nam Dinh 1, Vinh Tan 3 and Song Hau 2  Build – Operate –Transfer (BOT)  projects will be officially signed in the third quarter of 2020.

Speaking in conclusion at the meeting of the State Steering Committee for Nationl Power Development Planning, the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Hoang Trung Hai has agreed with a number of suggestions of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Groups to accelerate the progress and release the obstacles for the Power Plant and Power Grid Projects.

Land rental and land use fees of biomass power projects, grid systems and transformer stations connected to the National grid will be exempted and reduced according to current laws applied for projects in the fields of investment incentives. That is one of the preferential treatments for biomass power projects regulated at the prime ministerial Decision 24/2014/ND-CP that will take effect from May 10, 2014.

Vietnam Electricity Group’s Southern Power Corporation (EVN SPC) said that apart from providing power from the national power grid for the island district of Phu Quoc via the 110kV undersea cable line it would build new power plants to ensure stable power supply in the district.

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has just sent a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade on EVN expectation to reduce a large capacity of the wind power projects in 2021.

These three projects as Quang Trach Power Center (including thermal power plants Quang Trach 1 (2x600 MW),Quang Trach 2 (2x600 MW) and Quang Trach Coal Harbor), Bac Ai Hydropower Pump Storage Plant (4x300 MW) and Tri An Hydropower Extended Plant (200 MW) under Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) Investor have been put into urgent ones in order to guarantee security of electricity supply in period after 2020 up.

On December 15, 2015, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) issued the Circular No. 44/2015 / TT-BTC (Circular 44) to stipulate the project development, avoided costs tariff and pattern power purchase agreement for biomass power projects.

At a working meeting with Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) on June 20, in Hanoi, Mr. Satoru Harada – Executive Director of the Electricity business division of Marubeni Group in Vietnam expressed his wish to continuously cooperate with EVN in the renewable energy and LNG power projects in Vietnam coming period.

The future of Petrovietnam Power Corporation - JSC (PV Power) is facing a challenging period, determined by the success or failure of investment in new projects.
