On August 28, 2019, in Northwestern treatment solid waste  complex (Thai My commune, Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City)  a groundbreaking ceremony took place for the Vietstar Waste-to -Energy Plant.

EB Can Tho Energy Environment Limited Company –the project investor has put Can Tho Can Tho Waste- to –Energy plant into test operation.

On November 22, 2018, at the Northwest Solid Waste Treatment Complex in Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in coordination with Tasco Joint Stock Company Solid started construction of the Tasco - Cu Chi Waste - to -Energy project.

The Prime Minister has just issued the Document No. 211/TTg-CN, dated on February 18, 2019 on agreement to add the waste-to-energy (WTE) projects in Hau Giang and Phu Tho provinces into the national power development planning (NPDP).

The Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC2), Tin Thanh Group (TTG), Ninh Thuan Agriculture and Renewable Energy Joint Stock Company (NITSA) and Son My Renewable Energy Joint Stock Company (SSC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on a cooperation to invest in and develop biomass power projects in the Mekong Delta region and waste-to-energy projects in Ho Chi Minh city.

Vietnam has introduced an incentive policy for the first time which will encourage private investors to build waste-generated power projects in Vietnam.

Under the guidance of the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Hoang Trung Hai, the coal-fired thermal power plants (TPPs) that are in the investment preparation should be only allowed for starting construction if there are the clear waste (ash and slag) handing plans, or the contracts in principle with the demand companies.

Siemens will provide the equipment to upgrade the Hiep Phuoc 1 steam power plant in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to a combined cycle power plant. This project will increase the plant’s electrical capacity by roughly 780 megawatts (MW) to approximately 1,200 MW.

Within the framework of the 26th Conference of the participates in the Framework Convention of United Nations on Climate Change (COP26) taking place in the United Kingdom, under the witness of Vietnamese Prime Minister (PM) Pham Minh Chinh, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (RE) and BCG Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Siemens Gamesa RE providing BCG Energy with equipment and technical solutions for wind power development in Vietnam.

In addition to its “Light up the Spratly Islands” project, Vietnamese renewable energy firm SolarBK, in 2009, installed a hybrid power supply system using both wind and solar energy with a capacity of 824kWh per day.

The 2018 Korea Energy Exhibition hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy was the 38th largest ever event with a participation of the 6th National Museum of Renewable Energy.

The Czech - Vietnam Energy Forum took place on February 20 in Hanoi, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, the Electricity of Vietnam , the Federation of Czech Industry and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vietnam.
