Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha expressed that developing rooftop solar power projects is an urgent task and an important solution to mobilize social resources to implement Power Development Planning VIII (PDP VIII). Therefore, mechanisms and policies to encourage organizations and individuals to invest in rooftop solar power projects are consistent policies.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed the Decision for approving the Vietnam National Power Development Planning in the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 (PDP VIII). The following are some main contents of the PDP VIII.

On the morning of October 31, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired a face-to-face and online meeting with the ministries, agencies and localities to contribute and complete the draft plan to implement the National Power Development Planning in 2021 – 2030 period and vision to 2050 (Power Development Planning – PDP VIII).

On August 17, 2023, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Committee on Science, Technology and Environment of the Vietnam National Assembly in collaboration with the Scientific Council of Vietnam Energy Review has successfully organized the workshop on "Implementing the Power Development Planning (PDP VIII) - The challenges and policy suggestions".

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) just held a meeting to discuss the implementation plan of Power Development Planning (PDP) VIII. Mr. Dang Huy Cuong – A Member of the EVN Board Member Council in charge of EVN's Member Council chaired the meeting.

The Government Office has just issued a notice on the conclusions of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at the meeting on perfecting the National Power Development Planning for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (PDP VIII). On the Power Development Planning Project VIII submitted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to the Standing Government in Document No 4778/TTr-BCT dated August 11, 2022, the Government Office has just issued the Document on Conclusions of the Standing Government on the National Power Development Planning for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045 (PDP VIII).

The Government Office has just issued Document No 206/TB-VPCP announcing the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh at the working session on the report for supplementing and clarifying a number of contents of the Power Development Planning VIII (PDP VIII) according to Official Document No 3787/BCT-ĐL dated July 4, 2022 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT).

The draft Power Planning Development VIII (PDP VIII) contains fundamental changes in the power plants to meet the Net-zero commitment. On the basis of the power plants expected to be approved in PDP VIII to supply electricity for the socio-economic development in the coming period. At present Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) is implementing scenarios for developing power plants and projects releasing power capacity under the investment promotion policies.

On April 26, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Le Van Thanh chaired a meeting of the Appraisal Council to appraise the National Power Development Planning period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045 (PDP VIII) – A national sectorial special important planning in the national sectoral planning system.
