On 18th May 2014, at the Launch of "Vietnam Science and Technology Day" with the theme "Science and Technology - fast and sustainable development driving force", Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung affirmed: Science and technology is the lever in the process of economic restructuring and transformation of growth model, improvement of productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy.

Vinacomin’s Science and Technology Department Deputy Head Kieu Kim Truc said that since 2009, Vinacomin has raised the science and technology funding to support research and projects in production and business activities.

Vietnam’s science and technology industry has strongly developed over 55 years.

The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Da Nang People’s Committee together launched a National Science and Technology Week on May 8 at the Da Nang University of Technology on the occasion of the Science and Technology Day (May 18).

Therefore, many legal documents have been created to encourage and support enterprises to promote scientific and technological activities and improve their competitiveness.

According to the Department of Science and Technology – the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), being aware that conducting research and developing science and technology is one of the important tasks, groups and corporations under MOIT have promoted research and application of scientific and technological solutions to improve productivity and quality of their products, efficiently using material, natural resources while protecting the environment.

The Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) is urgently finalising plans to construct a Viet Nam-Republic of Korea Institute of Science and Technology on over 20 hectares at the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park in the capital.

The 12th National Technological Innovation Awards were granted to 88 projects in Hanoi on March 31, contributing to confirming the will and creativity of the Vietnamese. These were useful projects, helping users save time and costs as well as bringing greater economic efficiency.

An evening function on the occasion of the 30-th anniversary of the cooperation in development of nuclear technologies between the two countries was held in Dalat (Vietnam).
