Petrovietnam Chairman of the Board of Directors Hoang Quoc Vuong receives Chairman of Novatek Group

Attending the meeting were Mr. Gennady Bezdetko, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Vietnam and leaders of Novatek Group. On the side of Petrovietnam, there were Mr. Pham Tien Dzung - Vice President, Mr. Ho Cong Ky - Chairman of the Board of Directors of PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PVPower) and leaders of Divisions/ Administration Office, leaders of PV GAS attended the online meeting.
Overview of the meeting.
Novatek Group is a leading LNG producer and exporter in Russia. The Group owns many large projects, typically the Yamal LNG project… and is one of the few energy corporations granted direct LNG export licenses by the Russian Federation.
Opening the meeting, on behalf of Petrovietnam’s leaders, Chairman of the Board of Directors Hoang Quoc Vuong welcomed Mr. Leonid Mikhelson and Novatek Group’s delegation to visit and work in Vietnam. Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong emphasized that the cooperation between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Russian Federation in general, between Petrovietnam and the corporations, enterprises of the Russian Federation in particular has achieved many important successes in recent years, contributed to strengthening the friendly cooperation between the two States. Petrovietnam wished to continue receiving the attention and cooperation from energy groups of the Russian Federation including Novatek Group in the future.
Mr. Leonid Mikhelson - Chairman of Novatek Group expressed his wish that the two sides would promote cooperation in the coming time, and that his visit to Vietnam was to accelerate the progress of LNG projects in Vietnam, including Ca Na LNG Power Project. He hoped that Petrovietnam would support Novatek in promoting the implementation of the Project.
At the meeting, leaders of the two sides shared and exchanged information on the operation of the two groups and the implementation of cooperation projects. Petrovietnam leaders shared that Vietnam’s energy development strategy in the coming period would focus on developing electricity, gas and renewable energy. In which, Petrovietnam, as a pillar energy group of the country, has been assigned by the Government to provide gas for the development of the electricity industry. So far, Petrovietnam and its member units have coordinated with partners to build LNG terminals in Thi Vai and Son My.
Exchanging specific content about new cooperation opportunities, besides PV Power, the Group introduced Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV Gas) as a member unit of Petrovietnam in charge of activities in the field of gas, LNG and terminals to research and promote cooperation with Novatek Group. Specifically, Nam Du LNG Terminal Project in Kien Giang Province, one of the important projects in the chain of projects to develop LNG terminals in Vietnam, played the role of supplying gas to the Southeast region and would be capable of exporting to other regional countries in the future. Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong believed that with the support of the Government of Vietnam and the goodwill of cooperation between the parties, the project would be actively and effectively implemented.
PetroVietnam leaders expressed their hope that the Group would continue to expand cooperation with experienced partners such as Novatek Group and believed that Novatek, with their experience, would support Petrovietnam and the member units to effectively and successfully implement projects, meeting the increasing energy demand in the future. Petrovietnam leaders committed to focus on supporting and accompanying Novatek in promoting the implementation of projects and expanding cooperation in the field of energy.
