On October 13, 2015 in Hanoi, at a meeting with the Vietnamese press, Mr. Thomas Countryman, the Assistant US Secretary of State (in charge of civil nuclear cooperation and anti-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction) said, the US desires to help and consult  Vietnam in the civil nuclear sector.

According to Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) Deputy Director General Nguyen Cuong Lam, nuclear power development is a long-term strategy of Vietnam to meet the demand for electricity, reduce the reliance on energy imports and environmental pollution and promote scientific, technological and infrastructure development.

On November 13, in framework of the Project No 370, a Workshop – Show of Nuclear Power Development was officially opened in Ninh Thuan Province.

On December 12, in Ninh Thuan province, the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) held a ceremony of starting out the power supply system for constructing Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). The Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai – Head of the State Steering Committee of Ninh Thuan NPP attended  the ceremony and commanded to start out the project.

A reliable and quality power grid is one of the most important elements helping develop industries and is a goal to strive for by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) in the future.

On August 12 in Ninh Thuan province, Press Department - Ministry of Information and Telecommunications in collaboration with the Department of Atomic Energy - Ministry of Science and Technology organized a "training course on skill for propaganda on construction of nuclear power in Vietnam", for correspondents of press agencies.

Mr. Doan The Vinh, Deputy Director of Nuclear and Thermal Power Plants Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s General Department of Energy has noted that under the national power development plan with a vision to 2030, Vietnam will require 194-210 billion kWh of electricity in 2015, 330-362 billion kWh in 2020, and 695-834 billion kWh by 2030. All this energy must be either produced domestically or imported.

Hungarian experts are ready to transmit all the  knowledge and experience on the nuclear power  they have accumulated for Vietnam.

According to Vietnam News Agency, April 18th, the Japanese Congress approved a civil nuclear agreement with Turkey and United Arabs Emirates,  according to that, Japan will export nuclear power reactors to these rapid developing economies.

Dong Nai People's Committee has just submitted a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) for considering and appraising 8 solar power projects to submit to the Prime Minister for additional approving these projects to the National Power Development Planning (NPDP) up to 2025.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just decided to supplement the Trung Son Solar Power Project (SPP) project to the Power Development Planning of Khanh Hoa province in 2016-2020 period with the vision to 2035.

On July 4, 2016, at Doosan Heavy Industries Vietnam, Dung Quat Economic Zone, Binh Thuan Commune, Binh Son District, Quang Ngai, Vietnam, Doosan Vina held a contract signing ceremony with Korrea's nuclear power plant to produce nuclear power equipment of the 1,400 MW Shin Kori units 5 & 6  NPP Project. The history marks the beginning of a new era in Vietnam and signifies the nation’s growing stature as an industrialized nation.

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has been implementing component projects in preparation for the building of the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plants, the first of their kind in Vietnam.

On November 9, 2015, the Chairman of the Member Council  of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), Duong Quang Thanh received Mr. Philippe Varin – Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development of France cum Chairman of the French Nuclear Corporation - AREVA for exchange  of the opportunities for cooperation in the energy and nuclear energy sectors.

On 16 July 2015, in Vinh Hai commune, Ninh Hai district and Phuoc Dinh commune, Thuan Nam district, Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee and Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) held a ceremony for publishing Decision No. 6070 / QD-BCT of the  Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) on adjusting sites of Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plants (NPP).
