On the afternoon of February 11, at the Government Office, Deputy Prime Minister  (DPM) Trinh Dinh Dung received a group of the large and experienced enterprises in LNG power projects in the world from USA and South Korean which interest in developing the LNG power projects in Vietnam.

Due to a power source imbalance, the southern region of Vietnam will be at risk of power shortages from 2018 on, while thermal power projects not managed by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) are lagging behind schedule. Therefore, EVN is seeking solutions to the problem. 

Alstom has been awarded a contract by GS Engineering & Construction (GS E&C), a large engineering and construction services company in Korea. Under the contract, Alstom will supply and supervise the installation and commissioning of 10 units of the ECO 110onshore wind turbines with 90m towers, each with an output of 3MW.  When operational, the wind farm will have a production capacity of 30MW.

On Feb 24, at Truong Long Hoa commune, Duyen Hai town, (Tra Vinh province),  the Tra Vinh 1 Wind Power Company Ltd. held the groundbreaking ceremony of Korea-Tra Vinh Wind Power Project – WPP (stage 1).

On December 11, 2020, in Hanoi, Korea Consortium and Trung Nam Group, signed Memorandum of Understanding in the energy sector. Accordingly, the Korea Consortium will support the Trung Nam Group in developing energy projects in Vietnam.

The international seminar “ New technologies on electricity supplies and grids, renewable energy and energy storage system” held by Vietnam Energy Association (VEA) and Korea ESS Industries Development Association (KEIDA) in cooperation with Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), PetroVietnam (PVN) and Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) on 14/3/2017 in Hanoi and 16/3/2017 in Ho Chi Minh city.

According to the information of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), at the present the capacity of rooftop solar power projects (RSPPs) in the South accounts for over 60% the total capacity of solar power projects (SPPs) of EVN (1,142 MWp).

During the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue to the Republic of South Africa in early November, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An asked South Africa to clarify the regulations related to allowing the foreign investors, including Vietnamese enterprises to buy coal mines in this country.

On June 10, in Hanoi, authorized by the Leaders of Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), Mr. Tran Viet Hoa, Director of Science and Technology Department and Mr. Kim Dong Soo, Standing Vice Chairman of Korean Electrical Association (KEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on technical standards and norms in power system management.

Korean SY Group has signed MOU with Bac Lieu province on cooperation to develop a 300 MW Solar Power Project (SPP) on an area of 400 ha in Long Dien Dong commune, Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu province.

PetroVietnam Exploration and Production Corporation  (PVEP) told:  at 10h45 am on 14th Sept. 2014, Su Tu Nau Nam (STN-N) mine has given the first oil  flow from SNS-2P well  with an oil flow of 5,300 barrels per day, earlier for 47 days than planned date. The next three SNS-1P, SNS-3P and SNS-4P  wells will be put into operation in turn and then the total flow of   STN-N mine is expected of 28,000 barrels per day.

On December 28, GE Renewable Energy announced that it has secured a 27.2 MW contract to supply 8 units of GE’s 3MW-137 wind turbines to support construction of the Phuoc Minh Wind Farm, located in Ninh Thuan, in the South Central Region of Vietnam. A consortium of PowerChina Huadong Engineering Corporation, Henste Engineering and IPC Group will provide full Engineering, Procurement and Construction services for the project.

Binh Thanh No. 2 Primary School and Binh Minh No. 1 Primary School in Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province are the two schools where charity activities and educational exchanges are held by students of Chung Ang University (CAU), Korea this year.

The 2018 Korea Energy Exhibition hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy was the 38th largest ever event with a participation of the 6th National Museum of Renewable Energy.

​On July 28th 2018, in Hanoi, Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) has organized a program “Vietnam glory -  Impression of works" in order to glory the typical projects, which make great contribution to the construction and protection of motherland from 1975 to now. The 500 kV North- South transmission line is under management, operation by National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), it has a glory in contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
