The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) have coordinated to organize an international experience-sharing Workshop on rooftop solar power development (under the self-production, self-consumption mechanism). The Workshop was held in the form of face-to-face and online for all EVN units.

German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) have signed a cooperation agreement with public and private partners to implement a new project on combining aquaculture and solar power in the Mekong Delta region.

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and German International Cooperation Organization (GIZ) have published “The Report on Biomass Energy in Sugar Industry of Vietnam” which shows that Vietnam Sugar Industry can generate a clean energy output of 4,300 GWh per year that sufficiently supplies electricity for 630,000 households.

On 20 November in Hanoi, Viet Nam’s first Viet Nam Energy Efficiency in Industry Award 2017 was officially launched. The Award is part the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (4E) Project, implemented by the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development of MoIT and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Hanoi – September 14, 2016 – The German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Vietnam and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to pursue cooperation for sustainable bio-energy development in Viet Nam.

“Solar power in Vietnam: The ground solar power system and compensation mechanism in solar power production in breakthrough opportunities” is the title of the Workshop expected to bring the opportunities for cooperation and investment between Vietnamese and German businesses in solar power development.

At the seminar on the link of Vietnam - Germany wind power partners in Hanoi on May 18, 2016, it was informed that Germany will give financial support for three projects on Vietnam-Germany cooperation in studying wind power development in Vietnam, selected from the “Support to expand the scale of wind power” program.

The Prime Minister has approved the Draft agreement between Vietnam’ Government and the German Reconstruction Credit Institute (KFW) on an € 65 million loan for the project: "Smart power grids - Transmission efficiency (stage 1)".

Vietnam commits to cut greenhouse gas emission by 8% against usual development scenario rate in 2030 by domestic resources. The cutting-off rate can be raised to 25% when receiving the international support.

On June 12, in Hanoi held a ceremony for signing the agreement on developing the project "Support to expand the scale of wind power" between the General Department of Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade- MOIT) and the German Development Cooperation Program (GIZ).
