Vietnam commits to cut greenhouse gas emission by 8% in 2030

This is one of the contents of the INDC report, promulgated on October 12, 2015 by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in coordination with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ).
Vietnam’s INDC report includes two parts as greenhouse gas emission mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
The greenhouse gas emission mitigation part consists of unconditional and conditional contributions against the usual usual emission scenarios.
The unconditional contributions are activities carried out by domestic resources, while the conditional contributions are activities which could be done when Vietnam receives support of finance, technology and capacity strengthening from international community.
Adaptation to climate change part includes the activities of adaptation to climate change performed at present, shortfall in adaptation needs in institution, policy, finance, human resources, technology and the priority adaptation measure for the 2021-2030 period.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Vietnam’s INDC Report has showed the highest effort of the country, contributing to implement the objectives of the Climate Convention on the basis of the principles of the Convention.
Through the building and submitting the INDC Report, Vietnam again confirms the determination and highest effort to cooperate with the international community in solving the climate change problems based on domestic resources and thanks to the international community support.
