The mission of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) had a business trip to the United Kingdom (UK) to collect information, exchange, and learn experiences in operating the power system with many grid-connected renewable energy projects, especially offshore wind power projects. The mission was headed by EVN Deputy General Director Mr. Nguyen Tai Anh (the mission was made based on a partial sponsorship of the British Embassy in Vietnam).

The offshore wind power project has not been developed in Vietnam due to its technical and technological complexity, large amount of investment that leads to realizing a planned capacity of up to 7,000 MW by 2030 is a big challenge... Information was given at the seminar: "Experience in offshore wind power development" held by the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade - MOIT) on July 6 in Hanoi.

The Binh Thuan Wind Power Association has proposed the Prime Minister (PM) and Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to extend the mechanism on supporting wind power development in Decision No 39/2018/QĐ-TTg for 14 months.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has just issued the Unified Document No. 07/VBHN-BCT for regulating wind power development and Standardized Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for wind power projects.

At the seminar on the link of Vietnam - Germany wind power partners in Hanoi on May 18, 2016, it was informed that Germany will give financial support for three projects on Vietnam-Germany cooperation in studying wind power development in Vietnam, selected from the “Support to expand the scale of wind power” program.

In Hanoi, GE Power & Water under the General Electric Co – GE (U.S) has signed a MoU on cooperation with HBRE Wind Power (U.K) in promoting development of wind power project in in the West Plateau, Vietnam.

The Prime Minister has approved the Project “Wind Power Development in Vietnam” with ODA fund of German Government.
