EVN and CSG discuss orientations for electricity cooperation in 2023

 - On the afternoon of February 13 in Hanoi, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - Chairman of the Council Members of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) had an online meeting with Mr. Meng Zhenping - Chairman of China Southern Power Grid Company Limited (CSG) for summarizing the projects and cooperation activities between the two sides in 2022 and exchanging orientations on development and cooperation in 2023.

At the meeting, Mr. Meng Zhenping – CSG Chairman said that EVN and CSG are each other's strategic partners, with a good cooperation process in many recent years. CSG always wants a win-win cooperation relationship with EVN, for mutual development, and promoting the China-Vietnam electricity cooperation to continuously achieve new results.

In particular, through the signed cooperation agreement, the two sides implemented and are implementing effectively, making good use of the experience, resources, and potential of each party; as well as promoting the development of electricity cooperation in the region, forming the power system of the countries in the Economic Cooperation Program of the Greater Mekong Subregion, ASEAN, and promoting multilateral electricity trading.

In 2023, Mr. Meng Zhenping wishes that EVN and CSG will strengthen strategic coordination and strive to create a grid connection model; strengthen exchanges on corporate governance, digital transition, green development, and development of the new energy and energy with high pressure. EVN and CSG should strengthen to exchange of information and consultation, and strive to become a model for promoting cooperation in the Lancang-Mekong region.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh informed that, EVN and CSG have similarities in terms of fields, and operation scale. They are serving a very large number of customers in spreading areas. The two sides continuously consolidated and developed bilateral and multilateral cooperation that brought certain results, especially in cooperation on the electricity purchase and investment in Vinh Tan 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant and in the technical exchange activities, training...

In the coming time, EVN and CSG will continue to carry out the power purchase agreement from China through the 220 kV lines for the period of 2022 -2025 and negotiate prices and output for the period of 2024 - 2025.

It is expected that the delegation of EVN's organization and personnel will have an in-depth exchange program at CSG and other power units.

Within the framework of this meeting, Mr. Tang Yifeng – CSG Deputy General Director, and Mr. Ngo Son Hai – EVN Deputy General Director also had a discussion session on the PPA, exchanges, and exchange experience in electricity system operation and investment and operation of power plants in Vietnam.
