As well known, by the end of 2020, in Vietnam, there were put into operation power generation projects with a total installed capacity of 69,300 MW, of which the renewable energy capacity was 21,000 MW including 3,600 MW small hydro,  300 MW biomass power, more than 600 MW wind power, 16,500 MW solar power (7,900 MW ground projects and 8,600 MW rooftop ones) accounted for 30.6% of the total capacity of the whole national system, in particular, the solar power (ground and rooftop projects) reached 23.9%.

The Prime Minister (PM) has just directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), local authorities and  Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to review issues related to the solar power development in Vietnam (Official Document No. 185 / TTg-CN).

On November 13, 2019, at the Government Headquarter, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the Meeting of the standing members of the government on the Draft of Solar Power Development Promotion Mechanism in Vietnam, applied from the 1/7/2019, following the Decision No. 11/2017 / QD-TTg dated 11/4/2017 of the Prime Minister (Decision 11). 

Vietnam Energy Association (VEA) has just sent to the Prime Minister the official Document No 48/HHNL- VP dated on September 25, 2019 for suggesting a proposal of a mechanism to encourage development of solar power projects in Vietnam.

People's Committee of Da Nang city has just issued a Decision on approving the draft and funding for roofs solar power development project to 2025, with an outlook up to 2035.

Executing commitment as specified at Loan Agreement with ADB to implement Da Mi solar power project, on 31 August 2020, DHD cooperated with Women Union of Ham Thuan Bac district to organize a training course related to gender equity and health care for women and children at Da Mi and La Da communes, Ham Thuan Bac district, Binh Thuan province. There were around 70 participants representation for 50 households, who were impacted by land acquisition to build 110kV transmission lines of Da Mi solar power project, participated in the course.

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has just proposed to the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to make the mechanisms for rapidly developing renewable energy projects in the Northern region to avoid the risk of electricity shortage in the near future.

On January 4, in Kon Tum, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) held a ceremony to hand over Se San 4 Solar Power Project (SPP) to SeSan Hydropower Development Company (HPDC) for management and operation.

As the largest liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) warehouse in Vietnam, Vung Tau PV GAS Dock Warehouse (VTDW) is an important link in the Bach Ho and Nam Con Son gas chain, supplying 60% LPG output for Vietnam market per year, maintaining domestic LPG trading market share, playing an important role in production and business tasks, and ensuring national energy security of PV GAS. Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has just sent the official document No 3832/EVN-KD, dated 23/7/2019 to the Power Corporations (PCs), Power Generation Corporations (GENCOs) and Power Generation units under EVN, to request them to speed up the developing the rooftop PV solar power projects with a goal to supplement electricity for the national power system in the current very difficult situation.
