Within the framework of the 26th Conference of the participates in the Framework Convention of United Nations on Climate Change (COP26) taking place in the United Kingdom, under the witness of Vietnamese Prime Minister (PM) Pham Minh Chinh, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (RE) and BCG Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Siemens Gamesa RE providing BCG Energy with equipment and technical solutions for wind power development in Vietnam.

Despite many advantages and potential in renewable energy, Vietnam has not invested adequately in this sector.

The Prime Minister has just approved the Vietnam Renewable Energy Development Strategy to 2030, outlook up to 2050.

The Global Initiative RE100 is a campaign with the aim to gather the companies in the list of Global Fortune 500 such as Apple, Google, Facebook, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Philips and Goldman Sachs for implementing their commitment to use 100% renewable energy within as short as possible term. 

On September 17, 2019, in Hanoi, Vietnam Sustainable Energy Alliance (VSEA), Vietnam Climate Action Alliance (VCCA) and Climate Change Working Group (CCWG) organized the 2019 Vietnam renewable energy Week.

The central province of Ninh Thuan is speeding up the construction of wind and solar power plants in order to generate commercial electricity as scheduled. 

The conference “Supporting Renewable Energy development and Sharing experience between France and Vietnam" with participation of the 7 French enterprises held on May, 20.  This is an opportunity for Vietnam get more new co-operations on renewable energy development.

On October 3, in Hanoi, the Chairman of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), Mr. Dang Hoang An received and worked with Ms. Carolyn Turk, WB National Director in Vietnam and WB Mission. The two sides discussed promoting and extending cooperative activities between EVN and WB including renewable energy.
