Vietnam will have a lot of opportunities for Renewable Energy Development

The conference held by Ubifrance Commercial Agency under the patronage of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and the Embassy of France in Vietnam, has benefited from active collaboration of the Directorate General for Energy of the MOIT, the French Development Agency (AFD), the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) and the French Union of Renewable Energy Companies (SER).
Speaking at the Conference, the Deputy Minister of MoIT Le Duong Quang said, nowadays, energy is a great challenge in the development progress of Vietnam. By a forecast, the electricity demand of the country will increase with a rate of 12% per annum in the next 10 years and in 2030 will be 4 times compared with that in 2005.
Vietnamese Government is also interested in the policy of renewable energy development that showed in the project Power System Development Planning in period 2011-2020 and outlook to 2030, by an aim to increase the renewable energy proportion up to 5,6% and 9,4% of the total electricity output in 2020 and 2030 respectively.
"However, at present Vietnam is lacking strong enough material bases as the agencies for investigation, appraisal and central directing development of a field with a lot of potential as renewable energy, and financial mechanism,. In the meantime, France as a prior partner of Vietnam in energy development and in the combat against the climate change is a very strongly developed country in this field. Therefore, today conference of sharing experience contributes to strengthening moreover the cooperation between the two countries through expanding the activities to the renewable energy field"- Deputy Minister Quang stressed.

At the conference, along with the presentations of the managers, specialists and sponsors from Vietnam and France, the 7 investors from France (Corex Solar, Dassault Systemes, Green Lighthouse, Meteodyn, Sirea, Techsub and Valorem) already introduced the solutions and newest breakthrough technologies in renewable energy field such as developing and building renewable energy projects in South Africa, Morroco...; designing: digitalized technological solutions for developing wind power, models of renewable energy development for newly emerging markets, software for assessment of wind power, system for distant automatic supervising energy equipment, and the large solar PV system on the water surface; and researching issues related to the technique, construction, exploitation and maintenance of green energy projects.
After the conference, there were direct meetings between enterprises of France and management agencies of Vietnam in order to share more experience on renewable energy development.
