EVN tries the best to release the capacity of the renewable energy projects

To August 2020, the total capacity of wind and solar power projects having been approved for supplementing to the national development planning as 23,000 MW (including about 11,800 MW wind power and 11,200 solar power).
At present, in the country there 102 SPPs with a total capacity of 5245 MW are operating.
Due to SPPs with a large capacity having been put into operation in a flat rate by very short time and concentrated in a large density in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces, so local overload occurs at the time when SPPs simultaneously generate high capacities.
In order to overcome the power grid overload in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces, EVN and its member units focus all the resources on synchronous implementing solutions in construction investment for speeding up the schedule progress of the power grid projects to release capacity of these SPPs.
Recent time, EVN units completed and put into operation 21 power grid projects from 110 to 500 kV with a length of 750 km and capacity of 5025 MVA, among them a number of key projects finished over schedule as projects of increasing capacity at 500 kV Vinh Tan, Di Linh and 220 kV Thap Cham, Ham Tan transformer substations, invested new 220 kV Ninh Phuoc, Phan Ri and upgraded several 110 kV lines in the region.
Up to now, although it was a lot of difficulties and challenges affected by Covid-19 pandemic, EVN and its units basically completed the transmission power grid infrastructure for releasing capacity of 113 wind and solar power projects with a total capacity of 5,700 MW (including projects operated before June 30, 2019 and ones put into operation in 2020).
However, at present, there are renewable energy power projects with a total capacity of more than 17,000 MW that have been added to the national development planning, among them many projects urgently implemented by investors for enjoying FIT mechanism applied for SPPs put into commercial operation to the December 31, 2020 (in accordance with the Decision No 13/2020/QD-TTg dated April 06, 2020 of Prime Minister) and FIT applied for wind power projects put into commercial operation before November 2021(in accordance with the Decision No 39/2018/QD-TTg dated September 09, 2018 of Prime Minister). Therefore, it expects many wind and solar power projects continuously to be put into operation in coming time.
In order to release capacity of these wind and solar power projects, EVN is continuously focusing the maximal efforts on investing, developing, upgrading and renovating power grid projects to improve ability and reliability of transmission grids.
In addition, EVN ensures that information on operating ability, capacity release of regional power grid always provided to renewable energy project investors for guaranteeing openness and transparency in the negotiation process on grid connection and power purchase agreement.
