On November 8, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and AES Group (USA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on implementing Son My 2 Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) project. 

On October 24, 2021, in Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh province, starting ceremony of the Quang Ninh LNG power project took place. This is the first power project using imported LNG in Northern Vietnam.

The Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee (PPC) has handed the Decision on investment policy of Bac Lieu liquefied natural gas (LNG) power project to Delta Offshore Energy Pte Ltd (DOE Singapore).

The Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee (PPC) signed the Decision for agreeing the investment policy of the Son My LNG Terminal project and the investor of Son My LNG Terminal Co., Ltd. to implement this project.

The  Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee (PPC) has just signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  with the Investment Joint-Venture of Energy Capital Vietnam (USA) on developing a LNG fired power project in Bac Lieu province. 

The Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee has just assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to chair and in coordination with the relevant agencies periodically (on the 22nd of every month) to advise the Provincial People's Committee to report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) on the situation of construction investment implementation, petitions, proposals related to the implementation of Quynh Lap LNG power project (Hoang Mai town, Nghe An province).

On October 19, 2020, in the presence of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide, the consortium of investors including PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power), Vietnam Mechanical and Machine Assembly Joint Stock Company (Colavi), Tokyo Gas Group and Marubeni Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Quang Ninh LNG Power Project

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just decided to supplement the Trung Son Solar Power Project (SPP) project to the Power Development Planning of Khanh Hoa province in 2016-2020 period with the vision to 2035.

On October 7, 2021, Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Quang Tri Economic Zone Management Board handed the Decision on investment policy and agreement for Hai Lang LNG – Power Center with a capacity of 1500 MW (phase 1) to Vietnamese T&T group and Korean enterprises as Hanwha Energy Joint Stock Company, Korean Power Group (KOSPO), Korean Gas Group (KOGAS). The total investment of phase 1 of the project is 2.3 billion US$ (about 54,000 billion VND), including 60% from Korean side and 40% T&T group.

The Office of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee (PPC) informed that, on April 20, 2021 in a working meeting with Mr. Sam Chan- the Chairman of Vietnam Millennium EnergyCo., Ltd. a member of Millennium Petroleum Corporation of the United States, Mr. Sam Chan asked Soc Trang PPC to permit Vietnam Millennium Energy studying investment in a LNG power project with a total capacity of 9600 MW (including two phases) in Soc Trang province and allocate a land area of 200 ha with supporting compensation and ground clearance for the project development.

On the morning of November 15, in the Government Office at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Trinh Dinh Dung, Mr. Scott Kicker - General Director of Gen X Energy Company (USA) said: Gen X Energy is studying the opportunities to invest in LNG power projects with a total investment of about US$ 6 billion.

In the meeting of Vietnam - US Trade and Investment Council, the Minister of Industry and Trade (MoIT) Tran Tuan Anh with the authorization of the Prime Minister handed the certificate to invest in Son My LNG power project in Binh Thuan province (Vietnam) for AES Company (USA).

On May 17th, 2018 in the Government Headquarter, the Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue received Mr. David Stone, General Director in charge of Vietnam market of AES Energy Company (USA). At the receiving meeting, Mr. David Stone asked the Vietnamese Government to allow AES to invest in the Son My 2 Gas Power Plant project.   

Dak Nong Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) has decided to accept the Truc Son Solar Power Project for investment.

On April 23, 2020, in a document signed by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, the Government has agreed with the proposal in Document No. 2380 / BCT-DL dated on April 1, 2020 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to supplement Ca Na (Ninh Thuan province) and Long Son (Ba Ria-Vung Tau province) LNG power centers into the National Power Development Planning (PDP).
