At the conference on development cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) of Vietnam and Ministry of Energy and Mines (MOEM), and Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) of Laos in 2017, the sides discussed the projects of bonded warehouse and oil pipeline from Hon La harbor (Quang Binh, Vietnam) to Kham Muon (Laos) and My ly – Nam Mo I Hydropower plant. Especially, the two sides have been unanimous to study the 500 kV grid project for Vietnam to import electricity from Laos.

Information from the General Department of Customs shows that in the first 8 months of 2017, Vietnam exports coal to almost all markets increasingly in comparison with that in the same time of the last year. It is particularly noticeable that coal export to Laos market increased for 16 times by amount (50,455 tons) and 15 times by value (4.32 million US$).

On March 21, at a meeting between leaders of the Ministries of Planning and Investment and the ministries, agencies and enterprises of Vietnam and Laos taking place in Vientiane (Laos), T&T and Phongsubthavy Groups handed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the renewable energy (RE) development.
