Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just signed Decision No. 861/QD-TTg dated July 18, 2023, approving the national planning infrastructure for reserving and supplying petrol, oil and gas (in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision up to 2050).

The Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Trinh Dinh Dung has just signed a decision on approving the tasks of the national infrastructure planning project for gasoline and gas reserve and supply in period of 2021-2030, with a vision up to 2050.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has agreed to lay down as a policy the establishment of the project  "National Energy Development Planning in 2016-2025 period with an outlook up to 2035".

On August 9, 2023, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) held a conference for publishing the National Energy and Mineral Development Planning (NEMDP) in a period of 2021 -2030 with a vision to 2050. Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of MOIT chaired this conference. NEMDP in a period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 has been approved by the Prime Minister in the following decisions:

The Prime Minister has just approved the adjustment project of Vietnam Power Development Planning in 2011 - 2020 period with an outlook up to 2030, for an aim to sufficiently supply domestic electricity demand and meet the socio-economic development objective of the country with an average GDP growth of about 7.0% per year in 2016-2030 period.

According to the Government Electronic newspaper, in on December 5, 2014 Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai chaired a meeting of the State Steering Committee on the National Power Development Planning, for listening to the report and primary considering adjustment project of National Power Development Planning.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stressed the need to ensure power and coal supply in the decades to come, in service of national growth and development.

Minister of Industry and Trade (MoIT) assigns the General Department of Energy to select a qualified consultant company for establishing the National Biomass Energy Development and Use Planning Project based on the approved draft of the fundamentals and funding estimate, and submit it to MoIT for approval.

After considering the proposal of MOIT and opinions of the relevant ministries, Prime Minister has agreed to add Nhon Trach 3&4 projects to the National Power Development Planning VII (Adjustment).

The People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province has just sent an official document to ask the General Department of Energy (GDE), Ministry of Industry and Trade to appraise and submit for Prime Minister’s approval supplementing 100MW solar PV project in Chau Duc Industrial Zone into National Power Development Planning.

Dong Nai People's Committee has just submitted a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) for considering and appraising 8 solar power projects to submit to the Prime Minister for additional approving these projects to the National Power Development Planning (NPDP) up to 2025.

On September 9, 2019, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue received Mr. Scott Kicker, CEO of Gen X Energy Company (United States). At the meeting, Mr. Scott Kicker proposed to the Government of Vietnam, the wishe of Gen X Energy to invest in LNG complex project including LNG storage, gas transportation system and gas power project.

In the frame work of APEC Summit Week in Da Nang city, under the witness of Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the Petrovietnam (PVN) and Mitsui (Japan) signed the Agreement on cooperation in gas and gas power industries in southern Vietnam. In accordance with the Agreement PVN and Mitsui will cooperate to invest in development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply, terminals  and power plants…

The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) informed that the PVN mission headed by Mr. Nguyen Hung Dung – Member of the PVN Member Council visited and worked at Sembcorp Group (Singapore) and during the visit, Sembcorp Corporation and PetroVietnam Joint -Stock Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on renewable energy development, cross-border electricity trading, low carbon solutions (as hydrogen, ammonia), energy storage systems, smart grids and support/participation in developing LNG infrastructure in Vietnam.

Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has approved the project on overall design of information technology (IT) infrastructure to service operating and supervising activities in the competitive bulk power sale market in Vietnam.
