Japan will support Vietnam to develop LNG infrastructure

 - In the frame work of APEC Summit Week in Da Nang city, under the witness of Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the Petrovietnam (PVN) and Mitsui (Japan) signed the Agreement on cooperation in gas and gas power industries in southern Vietnam. The leaders of PVN and Mitsui exchange Agreement under the witness of President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe     

At present, PVN and Mitsui Oil Exploration Co., Ltd (MOECO), an associate company of Mitsui are cooperating in developing gas fields offshore southwest region (Lots B, 48/95 and 52/97); a gas pipeline to Ca Mau, Kien Giang and O Mon, and gas power plants in these areas.

Through this cooperation agreement, Mitsui would like to cooperate with PVN to look for the loans from the financial institutions for developing gas projects in lot B.

As information from Vietnam Energy Magazine, in May, 2017 PVN Gas Corporation (PV Gas), a member unit of PVN and MOECO were licensed by Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment for Lot B – O Mon gas pipeline which has a total investment of US$ 1.27 billion and a capacity of 20.3 million cubic meters of gas per day, supplying fuel for the two power plants with a total capacity of 3,660 MW.
