On the morning of February 10, 2022, Nghi Son 2 Electric Co., Ltd. in coordination with the investor, Korea Electricity Corporation (Kepco) and Marubeni Group, Tohoku Company (Japan) held the inauguration ceremony of unit No. 1 of Nghi Son BOT Thermal Power Plant 2.

At Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant project (Hai Ha commune, Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province), the general contractor and joint venture of contractors have successfully synchronized unit 1 into the national power sýtem. This event marks the efforts of the investor, general contractor and construction contractors to overcome difficulties in the complicated situation of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The signing ceremony of Agreement for investment in Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Project (TPP) between Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and Consortium of Investors of Marubeni (Japan) and KEPCO (Korea) took place in Ha Noi on November 15, 2016.

Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction (DHIC) today announced that it had received the initial payment for the $2.79 billion 1,330 MW Nghi Son 2 (NS-2) Power Plant which formally signals commencement of the project that was awarded in late 2014.

At 3:36 p.m. on July 27, 2021, the Central Power Projects Management Board (CPMB) in coordination with relevant units powering the 500 kV line connecting Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant (TPP) with the National Power System (NPS). The project invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), and managed by CPMB on behalf of EVNNPT was started for construction on April 09, 2018.

At the afternoon of January 19, 2021, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) and Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) held a ceremony for signing a credit contract of 1,500 billion VND to sponsor “Phase 2 of the Adjusted Nam Con Son gas pipeline project”, in which Ky Dong Branch of Vietcombank as the Vietcombank representative clue provides a credit of 1,000 billion VND.

On May 1, 2018, at Thanh Hoa province, the Nghi Son Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Company (NSRP)  successfully provided the market with the first consignment of refinery product as gasoline RON 92 (Mogas 92).

On August 22, 2017 Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Limited Liability Company (RPLLC) received the first batch of Kuwait crude oil of 270 thousand ton (nearly 2 million barrels) from Millennium oil tanker. This crude oil amount will be used for test running of Nghi Sơn Refinery in coming time.

Lilama 18 Joint Stock Company in collaboration with Nippon Express (NEX)  has installed the Propane / Propylene Splitter  distillation tower  of  Nghi Son Refinery. It is the one of important  equipment in the plant for separating the Propane/Protylene compounds.

Lilama Corporation has signed with JGCS Consortium (including JGC, GS, Chiyoda, SK E&C and Technip Companies), a general contractor, a VND 500 billion bid package for election of the tanks of Nghi Son Refinery.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung on June 21 chaired a meeting with relevant ministries and agencies to seek solutions for accelerating the construction of the Nghi Son refinery and petrochemical complex in the central province of Thanh Hoa.

The JGCS general contractor (Affiliation of Contractors: JGC, GS, Chiyoda, SK E&C and Technip, leaded by JGC Japan) has handed CVL 6 (Civil 6) contract package (Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex Project) to PetroVietnam Construction Joint-Stock Corporation (PVC). The total value of the package is around VND 500 billion.

The Nghi Son refinery plant in the  Nghi Son Economic Zone of the central province of Thanh Hoa, is expected to contribute about 8 trillion VND (342.6 million USD) to the State budget in 2018. 

Recently, at working meeting with Mr. Yota ONO, the Director of National Resources and Environment Department (Ministry of Trade and Industry of Japan) on progress of development of Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex Project (Nghi Son Refinery), leaders of Thanh Hoa province asked Idemitsu Kosan Company (Japan) and other constructors to hasten progress of the project.

Doosan Vina’s Chemical Processing Equipment (CPE) shop has made another eight shipments to Vietnam’s second petro chemical refinery which is now under construction in Vietnam’s Northern Province of Thanh Hoa with a total of 169 high tech pressure vessels that weigh of 5,438 tons.
