Doosan Vina’s engineers and workers maintained the SWRO plants on An Binh islet.

Nearly 2 years after completing the general inspection, maintenance, replacement, and repair of items of the desalination plants for the first time in September 2020 after 8 years of operation, up to now, some equipment and machinery were out of work because of long-term in-activity due to the shortage of input power sources as well as the salt accumulation leads to clogging the filter and a connection failure.

To overcome this, Doosan Vina dispatched a group of engineers and workers to repair and replace 8 faulty filters, check, and clean the electric valve systems of unit 1. At the same time, checked and restored the entire operating equipment system of unit 2 and guided in charge operators to regularly clean and maintain the machines to limit the damages.

After maintenance, each plant can produce about 20m3/day with the solar energy input.

Previously, Doosan Vina has conducted the general maintenance of these two desalination units in September 2020 by replacing sensors, cleaning rust, painting, and maintaining oxidized, grease-free equipment for the motors of unit 1, and replacing the sensors, inverter, inlet water supply pump, cooling fans of electrical and sanitary cabinets, and add grease for the motors of unit 2.

The total cost for the two maintenances was more than 1 billion VND (more than 46,000 USD). Currently, both units have been operating stably, reaching about 6 hours/day and with solar power, they can produce about 40m3 of freshwater per day.

Doosan Vina donated these two desalination plants to An Binh Islet to provide daily fresh water for more than 120 households in August 2012, using reverse osmosis technology, their capacity of 200 m3/day and night with a value of nearly 20 billion VND.
