The period 2020 - 2030 will mark an important step in strong increasing the clean energy sources as renewable energy, LNG power in total power resource structure of Vietnam. This trend will continue after 2030. At the same time, the role of the private sector in the electricity/energy market will become important and significantly increase in coming future.

Government Office has notified the conclusion opinion of the Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai at a meeting to review the progress of implementation of BOT and IPP power projects.

The conference on the operation and production of coal-fired power plants in the Northern region has just been held by Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) on the afternoon of June 19, 2023. There were 24 investors of coal-fired power plants in the Northern region in attendance, including the Power Generation Corporations 1, 2, 3 (EVN member units), Vinacomin Power Corporation, PetroVietnam Power Corporation, BOT investors and the investors of the independent power plants.

“During the visit to Vietnam of Denmark Crown Prince Successor in coming November, besides 3 investment funds, in a total 36 enterprises including delegation, there will be 22 enterprises in the wind power field to look for the investment cooperation opportunities.” - Vietnam Trade Office in Sweden, holding concurrently Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Latvia informed.

At the meeting on June 11, 2020 with the Power Corporations, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan, the General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) affirmed the viewpoint of EVN as "creating condition for maximum support to encourage investors in developing rooftop solar power Systems (RSPSs)".

Information from the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) said: On the morning of June 28, in Hanoi, under the witness of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary, Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, EVN General Director Tran Dinh Nhan attended the ceremony to exchange power purchase agreement (PPA) between EVN and hydropower investors in Laos.

Recently, wind power projects in Quang Tri province were pushed up a schedule in difficult conditions on the Covid-19 pandemic, racing to preferential FIT prices. Currently, in Quang Tri province, there are 17 wind power projects with a total capacity of 1,242.4 MW, total investment capital of more than VND 43,442 billion, supplemented to the planning and approved by the Provincial People's Committee.
