The Prime Minister has approved the Project  “Wind Power Development in Vietnam” with  ODA fund of German Government.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has just issued the Unified Document No. 07/VBHN-BCT for regulating wind power development and Standardized Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for wind power projects. 

At the seminar on the link of Vietnam - Germany wind power partners in Hanoi on May 18, 2016, it was informed that Germany will give financial support for three projects on Vietnam-Germany cooperation in studying wind power development in Vietnam, selected from the “Support to expand the scale of wind power” program.

Offshore wind power - a new generation of green energy – has a history of development over the past 30 years in Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, China, and the United States. After the Cop 26 Summit Conference in 2020 (in the UK), the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) has been formed. The offshore wind power development is rapidly increasing in the world, currently standing at 57 GW and impossibly reaching 500 GW by 2040 and 1,000 GW by 2050. Vietnam has an economic and technical potential for offshore wind power which is over 600 GW and attracts many investors. To develop sustainably of the offshore wind power industry, it is essential to executive on research and establish a legal framework to promote offshore wind power development (laws, national offshore wind power strategies, and related policy documents, etc).

Green hydrogen production by using renewable energy to provide electrolytic energy for splitting water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen is strongly developed to replace fossil fuels for power generation and storage; fertilizer and chemical production and transportation...

The Binh Thuan Wind Power Association has proposed the Prime Minister (PM) and Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to extend the mechanism on supporting wind power development in Decision No 39/2018/QĐ-TTg for 14 months.

Doosan Enerbility Vietnam (Doosan Vina), Dung Quat Economic Zone, Binh Thuan Commune, Binh Son District, Quang Ngai, Vietnam: Global offshore wind leader Ørsted announced its latest cooperation agreement in Vietnam with Doosan Enerbility Vietnam, focused on foundations infrastructure and boosting local supply chains for offshore wind.

Information from the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) said that Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong - Chairman of the Member Council of PetroVietnam (PVN) has just received and a working meeting with Mr. Jonathan Cole - General Director of Corio Generation Company (Australia) - Member of Macquarie's Green Investment Group (the world's largest offshore wind power company).

On 3 December 2021 in Hanoi, representative of Vietranstimex Multimodal Transport Joint Stock Company (VTT) – one of the World's Top 50 oversize and overweight transport companies, and Goldwind International Vietnam Co. Ltd. (Goldwind) – one of the World's Top 2 Technology and Equipment companies signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

The Gulf Energy Development PLC of Thailand has announced the purchase of two wind power farms worth about 200 million USD in Vietnam, in order to take advantage of low interest rates as it seeks projects with a quick return on investment.

Korean-Tra Vinh Wind  Power Project phase 2 has been accepted by Tra Vinh provincial People's Committee for Woojin Construction CO., LTD Investor (Korea) to develop.

The Danish Embassy has just had the 3rd meeting with Hai Phong City People’s Committee (CPC) on implementing an offshore wind power project with a total capacity of 3,900MW and a total investment of about 13.6 billion USD.
