Danish wind power group proposes an offshore wind power project in Hai Phong

 - The Danish Embassy has just had the 3rd meeting with Hai Phong City People’s Committee (CPC) on implementing an offshore wind power project with a total capacity of 3,900MW and a total investment of about 13.6 billion USD.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong CPC highly appreciated the determination of T&T Group Joint Stock Company and Danish Orsted Group joint venture to implement the project. Mr. Tho said that the project development is suitable with the national and local strategic direction of energy development in terms of prioritizing the exploitation and use of renewable energy sources. At the same time, the project will help the city to solve the electricity issue and meet the development requirements.

The total capacity of offshore wind power project in Hai Phong city is expected 3,900 MW, with a total investment of about 13.6 billion USD. The project should expect to be divided into 3 phases with 1,300 MW each, operating in 2029, 2035 and 2037.

This is the 3rd meeting of Danish Embassy with Hai Phong CPC and joint venture of the investors on the offshore wind power project.

After two previous working sessions, Hai Phong CPC proposed to the Prime Minister to include the Hai Phong offshore wind power project in the National Power Development Planning in period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045.

Vice Chairman of Hai Phong CPC asked the joint venture of the investors to prepare a specific document on difficulties, obstacles and requested the Department of Industry and Trade to act as the focal point and synthesize opinions of relevant departments of Hai Phong city for Hai Phong CPC to consult the opinions of the central ministries and agencies for early promoting the procedures of project implementation.

Hai Phong CPC also asked the investors of Investors to proactively complete relevant studies, work with service providers, ready to conduct surveys as soon as to survey when permit for surveying will be issued. During the project studies and implementation, it is necessary to comply with current regulations, not to affect the navigation channel as well as the security and defense issues.
