The project comprises a total drilling volume of 1,810 meters across three boreholes, funded under the 2025 joint exploration and survey program between TKV and JOGMEC (Japan). The GK289 borehole is designed to reach a depth of 660 meters to investigate coal seams ranging from Seam No. 13 to Seam No. 9.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thinh, a representative of the TKV Resources Committee, urged the drilling crews to carry out the work safely, adhere to the schedule, and ensure that quality and technical requirements are met.
The JOGMEC representative emphasized that JOGMEC and TKV have a long-standing and effective partnership, especially with the Vinacomin Geology Company, which has conducted numerous exploration drilling projects. As a result, JOGMEC has full confidence in the company’s capabilities to carry out this project.
Mr. Ha Minh Tho, Director of the Vinacomin Geology Company, expressed his gratitude to the leaders and expert departments of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) for trusting the company with this long-running project. He stated that the company will mobilize three drilling crews (Nos. 8, 9, and 16) to carry out the work. However, given the highly complex stratigraphy of the Suoi Lai area, he expressed the hope to receive support and favorable conditions from TKV, JOGMEC, and Hon Gai Coal Company to ensure the project is completed to the required standards and specifications.
