The Norwegian energy groups would like to invest in offshore wind power projects in Vietnam

 - The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade (MOIT DM) Dang Hoang An just had a meeting with Mr. Erling Rimestad – The State Secretary for the Norwegian Kingdom Foreign Affairs Ministry. On this occasion, Mr. Erling Rimestad introduced to the MOIT of Vietnam the Norwegian leading clean energy groups including Mainstream, Scatec, Norsk Solar, and Equinor exchanged the Norwegian prospects of investment sources in renewable energy in Vietnam and looked forward to learning about the regulations of Vietnam for the offshore wind power development.

Information from the Europe-America market Departments (MOIT) said that at the meeting with the State Secretary for the Norwegian Kingdom Foreign Affairs Ministry, MOIT DM Mr. Dang Hoang An emphasized the close and important cooperation between Norway and Vietnam in trade and energy. The total exchange turnover between the two countries was about 500 million USD. At present, Norway has 54 valid investment projects, with a total registered capital of 192.78 million USD, ranked 41/141 countries and territories investing in Vietnam and has more than 40 Norwegian enterprises operating in Vietnam.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An receives Mr. Erling Rimestad - Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway and leading clean energy corporations of Norway.

Sharing with MOIT DM, Mr. Erling Rimestad said that Vietnam and Norway have many common similarities such as geographical advantages in terms of coastline. Thanks to its long coastline and abundant offshore wind, Norway's oil and gas and renewable energy industries of Norway are very developed. With its long-standing expertise in marine and offshore operations, Norway is in a unique position to contribute to the growing offshore wind market.

The Norwegian companies and industrial groups are taking advantage of offshore expertise, especially in terms of experience, skills and construction knowledge for offshore projects to affirm its position in the global offshore wind power market.

"Norway is ready to share experience and cooperate in these high-tech fields for Vietnam" stressed Mr. Erling Rimestad.

On this occasion, Mr. Erling Rimestad also introduced to the MOIT of Vietnam the Norwegian leading clean energy groups including Mainstream, Scatec, Norsk Solar, and Equinor and exchanged the prospects of investment sources of Norway in renewable energy in Vietnam. He also looked for searching forward to learning about Vietnam's regulations for offshore wind power development.

MOIT DM Mr. Dang Hoang An shared the issues that interest the Norwegian partners, including the legal framework of Vietnam for offshore wind power development.

In discussing investment cooperation, both sides realized that in the coming time, the Norwegian Government, enterprises, and investment funds need to study and participate in supporting Vietnam in investment in energy projects (offshore wind power, hydrogen production...) according to the planning orientation and roadmap.

The DM Dang Hoang An also highly appreciated the cooperation of Equinor Group and the Ministry of Industry and Trade in recent times. He desired forward, Equinor, as well as Norwegian companies to continuously cooperate and share experience in green energy development, especially offshore wind power with Vietnamese partners.
