EVN worked with a group of sponsors of the Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower project

Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Project is the power plant project approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 428/QD-TTg dated March 18, 2016, on Approving adjustments to the National Power Development Planning in the period 2011 - 2020 with a vision to 2030 (Adjusted Power Development Planning (PDP) VII).

The project has important significance for the national power system, especially in the context of many renewable energy projects (solar power, wind power) being put into operation in the power system.

The main task of Bac Ai PSHP is to generate the peak power capacity to cover the load chart of the power system, contributing to reducing the difference (flattening the load chart) by mobilizing pumping capacity during off-peak hours and generating power capacity during peak hours.

At the meeting, the two sides had specific discussions related to the main contents such as:

1/ The report for updating project implementation status.

2/ The implementation plan in the next phase.

3/ The draft plan for bidding on the project...

The sponsors said that through the meeting, they better understood the issues related to technical requirements, finance, bidding, etc. of the project.

The group of sponsors also affirmed that they will focus resources to soon complete the appraisal works to meet the start-up schedule of the project in the first quarter of 2024.

The Bac Ai PSHP feature:

- The Investor: The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).

- The Investor representative: Power Project Management Board 3.

- Construction location: Bac Ai district, Ninh Thuan province.

- Installed capacity: 1,200 MW.
