The international community and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is interested very much in forming the national policies on the nuclear fuel cycle for the countries of nuclear power plants, especially for the countries of newly developing nuclear power plants. It is especially important to make open and clear policies on localization, fuel enrichment or reprocessing, radioactive waste and spent fuel treatment that influence international support and cooperation for developing nuclear power projects.
On the other hand, the policies on the nuclear fuel cycle would have a very important mean in process of making investment project, implementation plan of nuclear power plants, developing abilities for radioactive waste, spent nuclear fuel management and treatment.
Last time, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) took the initiative and actively implemented the tasks assigned by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 2241 / QD-TTg dated on 12/11/2014 on an overall plan for developing nuclear power infrastructure up to 2020 ...
To continuously perfect the mechanisms and policies for the nuclear fuel cycle, radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel management, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has assigned the MOST in collaboration with relevant ministries and agencies to check current system of the legal documents in the nuclear energy field and introduce the necessary contents into the amended and supplemented draft of the Atomic Energy Law.
In the long term, it should be necessary to continuously study and refer to the international experience to report and propose to Prime Minister for consideration and specific direction later.
