Planning for floating storage to receive LNG for Thai Binh LNG Power Center

 - The Ministry of Transport has just issued a document to agree on the policy of planning a floating warehouse to receive 150.000 tons of LNG in the Tra Ly coat for the Thai Binh LNG Power Center with the proposal of the Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee.

According to Power Development Planning (PDP)VIII, the Thai Binh LNG Power Plant project with a capacity of 1,500 MW belongs to the important list of power plants and grid projects, prioritized for investment in the power industry in 2021 - 2030.

As for the Master Plan for the development of Vietnam's seaport system in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister and the results of adjusting the Master Plan for the development of the seaport system are being reviewed by The Ministry of Transport to ask for opinions from relevant ministries, localities and agencies. Tra Ly wharf area is planned to have a general wharf, bulk cargo, containers, and LNG cargo (for ships up to 150,000 Thai Binh LNG Power Center in accordance with the Energy Master Plan and Electricity Development Plan.

The results of the detailed planning of seaport groups for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, are being submitted to the Prime Minister by the Ministry of Transport. The Tra Ly wharf area "By 2030, port investment (floating warehouse) liquid/gas cargo receives ships of up to 150,000 tons offshore Tra Ly estuary for Thai Binh LNG Power Center, throughput capacity of up to 1.5 million tons.

Compared with the 2022 Decision of the Ministry of Transport, the list of the new Vietnamese seaports announced the addition of 14 offshore ports to Vietnam's seaports. Therefore, the Ministry of Transport agreed on the above policy of planning the port (floating warehouse) proposed by the Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee.

The Ministry of Transport assigned the Vietnam Maritime Administration to be responsible for synthesizing the content of the proposal of the Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee in the process of presiding over the planning of Vietnam's seaport system and detailed planning of seaport groups and Detailed planning for the development of land and water areas of Thai Binh seaport in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. At the same time, continue to coordinate closely with departments, and agencies of Thai Binh province to agree on the detailed contents in deployment progress for ensuring the rate of progress, quality and plans.
