PVN and its Indian partner deliberate the development of a downstream project using gas from the Ken Bau field

At the meeting, the PVN General Director welcomed Mr. Ashish Kumar to visit PVN to discuss the following contents of the senior leadership meeting between the two groups in December 2021 on the occasion when PVN leaders accompanied the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue visiting India.
Regarding the implementation of drilling works at blocks 114 and 115/09, Mr. Ashish Kumar updated the information of the meeting between PVN, Eni and Essar for reviewing and approving the plan to drill the Dan Tranh -1X well expected at the end of March 2022 and affirmed the determination of contractors Essar and Eni in developing a plan to drill the next well 114 Dan Day - 1X.
According to Mr. Le Manh Hung, this is a potential area and PVN supports the proposal of Essar, and asks the parties to organize following meetings as soon as possible to consider and develop a master plan with the integrated value chain from exploring, evaluating, developing and exploiting prospect structures/gas and condensate fields in the region to gas transporting, power generating, as well as making petrochemicals from gas.
PVN invites Essar to participate in bidding for the open lots in Vietnam expected at the end of 2022, or the beginning of 2023. PVN also asks Essar with its experiences to consider the possibility to organize a joint working group for studying the potential and possibility of exploiting coal gas (CBM) in the Northern region.
In particular, the PVN General Director exchanged the possibility to cooperate with Essar in using LNG as fuel for heavy-duty vehicles in Vietnam, as well as in studying to develop the petrochemicals in integration with Dung Quat Oil Refinery according to the overall development orientation with using gas – condensate from Ken Bau field.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Ashish Kumar affirmed the Essar commitment to long-term investment in Vietnam and determination with the contractors to implement the drilling activities on planned schedule and as soon as possible to perfect the reserve assessment for putting the Ken Bau gas field into the commercial development stage.
