Restarting the project for manufacturing the solar power glass in Vung Tau

 - The Nippon Sheet Glass (NSG) Group (Japan) recently informed that it will invest around US$ 365 million in expanding solar energy glass in the context of decreasing renewable energy demand in Japan.

 

As the planed, this group will restart the solar energy glass plant in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province (Vietnam) and additionally build another plant in United States. NSG expects to increase capacity of special glass for solar PV by 30% in comparison with current data. These products should be also used for other purposes in construction. It is expected that Vung Tau plant will be restarted by the middle of 2019.

Vung Tau glass plant which manufactured products for liquid crystal display was closed in 2016 due to fierce competition from Nippon rivals as Asahi Glass and Corning companies. The glass plant of NSG in United States expects to be developed in Ohio and put into operation by the end of 2020.   

Additionally, NSG will sign a long-term agreement with First Solar – The company currently holds about 5 percent of the global market for solar cells and is rapidly increasing production in the United States and other Asian countries.

At present, the US large multinational companies as Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble (P&G) commit to transfer energy from fossil fuels to renewable energy, in line with the UN's sustainable development goals, The European companies are moving in the same direction, while in Asia, China and India are leading the way in a series of solar construction and other renewable power plants. These situations would create the favorable facilitates for NSG to promote it’s products of renewable energy.
