The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade (MOIT DM) Dang Hoang An just had a meeting with Mr. Erling Rimestad – The State Secretary for the Norwegian Kingdom Foreign Affairs Ministry. On this occasion, Mr. Erling Rimestad introduced to the MOIT of Vietnam the Norwegian leading clean energy groups including Mainstream, Scatec, Norsk Solar, and Equinor exchanged the Norwegian prospects of investment sources in renewable energy in Vietnam and looked forward to learning about the regulations of Vietnam for the offshore wind power development.

On the morning of December 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Government Mission carried out a survey of the coastal wind power projects in Hoa Binh district, Bac Lieu province, worked with Bac Lieu provincial leaders, investors on renewable energy development in Bac Lieu province and Vietnam.

From the results of the international conference "Policies for developing the wind, solar and gas power projects in Vietnam" organized by the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy - Ministry of Industry and Trade, Scientific Council of Vietnam Energy Magazine at the end of August 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Conference Organizing Committee has reported to the Prime Minister and the Central Economic Commission on mechanisms and policies for developing these power projects in coming time.

At a meeting with Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong - Chairman of the Member Council of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), on April 27, in Hanoi, Mr. Bernerd Da Santos – US AES Standing Vice Chairman and CEO informed that the AES group would like to share experiences and cooperate with PVN in developing the renewable energy projects, especially the offshore wind power projects.

On November 18 in Hanoi, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on building a strategic partnership in 2021 – 2024 years to promote clean and sustainable energy development in Vietnam, as well as support PVN to achieve the green energy transition goal. Specifically, the two sides will cooperate in strategy, a roadmap for green energy transition, carbon capture, use and storage; developing hydrogen industry and offshore wind power projects.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a strong influence on the economy and society and greatly affected the project progress of renewable energy investors in Vietnam, including Super Energy. Therefore, the extension of the time to apply the FIT rates for wind power projects (until the end of June 2022) is to increase the "resistance" for businesses to firmly overcome the epidemic and complete their projects as soon as possible. 

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has just informed that, in recent time, EVN signed the power purchase agreements (PPAs) with commercial operation date (COD) as October 31, 2021 for 144 wind power projects with a total capacity of 8,144.88 MW.

German GICON group for Technology Consultant and Solution and Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation for researching pilot project on producing hydrogen and from the offshore wind power projects and electricity from the renewable energy projects in Vietnamese condition.

The Prime Minister (PM) has just issued Document No. 196 / TTg-CN dated February 18, 2021 to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) on reporting the reviewing results of the wind power projects, appraisal for which has been completed.

Due to not much time for individual appraising wind power projects to submit the Power Development Planning VIII (PDP VIII), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has decided to stop appraising wind power projects for supplementation to PDP VII (adjusted).

On September 23, 2020, a coalition of the wind power industry led by the Global Wind Power Council (GWEC) sent a letter to call on the Government of Vietnam to extend FiT for the wind power projects.

The Government of Vietnam has just announced a specific list of wind power projects added to the Power Development Planning VII (adjusted project) as a basis for implementing management of construction investment in accordance with regulations.

The Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam (ERAV) – Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) clears the petitions of 36 investors of the transitional solar and wind power projects submitted to the Prime Minister (PM). On the morning of February 10, during the official visit to Singapore, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Tow Heng Tan - Vice Chairman of the Management Council of Sembcorp Group and witnessed the ceremony for handing a joint development cooperation agreement between Sembcorp and a partner of the PetroVietnam (PVN) in developing the offshore wind power projects for exporting to Singapore.

Within the framework of the Forum and Green Economy Forum and Exhibition GEFE 2022, on November 28, in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received leaders of major European corporations, including Equinor, CIP, Mainstream, Vestas, Airbus, HSBC, Suez, Siemens Gamesa, Schneider… At this event, European Enterprises showed that they are ready to invest billions of USD in wind energy projects in Vietnam.
