PVN proposal on participation of the US partner in the Long Son Petrochemical Complex project

 - Exchanging with Mr. Douglas Kelly - Chairman of USA Kellogg Brown & Root Technology Solutions Company (KBR) on June 6, in Hanoi, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong, Chairman of the Member Council Board of Vietnam Petroleum Group (PVN) proposed KBR apply a number of new technologies and technical solutions in the project of upgrading and expanding Dung Quat Oil Refinery plant, as well as participating in the investment to develop the Long Son Energy and Petrochemical Complex.

Mr. Douglas Kelly KBR Chairman informed that KBR having its headquarters in the United States, specializes in providing technological, scientific, and technical solutions and activities to the different markets and fields including the refinery and petrochemical industry.

In May 2022, PVN and KBR coordinated to organize a conference on refinery and petrochemical industry, where KBR experts presented and introduced a number of new and advanced technologies in the refinery- petrochemical industry such as developing "green" products (green hydrogen, green ammonia...) for contributing to speeding up energy transition and proposed to apply a number of the new technologies and technical solutions in PVN's projects such as upgrading and expanding Dung Quat Oil Refinery plant, participating in investment to develop Long Son Energy and Petrochemical Complex.

On behalf of PVN Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong highly appreciated the results of the technical conference jointly organized by PVN and KBR.

PVN Chairman informed that in PVN development strategy besides the petroleum search, exploration and exploitation, refinery-petrochemical field, the electricity and renewable energy fields including off-shore wind power projects are focusing to be developed forwards to a great goal of the Vietnamese Government to implement the commitment of net-zero emissions and to ensure the national energy security in the future.

PVN will focus on upgrading and expanding the Dung Quat refinery plant and study investment in developing Long Son refinery-petrochemical complex. For implementing these projects in a time schedule, PVN wishes to cooperate and coordinate KBR in the technological field in order to maximally ensure the conditions and guarantee the projects effectively operate.

PVN Chairman also wishes KBR, PVN; and its subsidiaries to actively exchange information, experiences and technologies in deploying the projects and study the cooperation mechanisms between the two sides.
