Vietnam-France cooperation in training nuclear energy human resources

This agreement has been signed by French Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research and Vietnamese Ministry of Education & Training (MoET).
According to the agreement, Vietnam - France cooperation in training nuclear energy human resources will be implemented through activities as: supporting development of curriculums (for bachelor, master and doctor degrees) in Vietnamese universities; facilitating conditions for Vietnamese students, apprentices to approach curriculums on nuclear energy theory and practice applied in France; coordinating the teaching job and developing the training facilities of nuclear energy in Vietnam; encouraging to exchange students and lecturers between universities in different training levels...
On the basis of the signed agreement, France and Vietnam sides assign their agencies as French International Institute of Nuclear Energy (I2EN) and Vietnamese Steering Committee of Project for Training Nuclear Energy Manpower to make the concrete implementation plans.
According to the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project Management Board (EVNNPB), when being completed Ninh Thuan nuclear power plants (NPPs) I &II need a 2200 manpower staff (1100 people per each plant) including 884 at higher education level, 922 – vocational college level and 394 - unskilled workers. The manpower staff by profession for each NPP is 420 nuclear power, 140 – nuclear safety and technical chemistry and 320 – the other professions.
The manpower training plan for Ninh Thuan NPPs is: i) MOET in coordination with Government of Russian Federation to select the excellent students satisfying the necessary standards for 6-7 year training courses on nuclear power in Russia Federation, ii) MOET coordination with Japanese Government to select 20 excellent students/year, satisfying the necessary standards for training courses on nuclear power in Japan.
Besides, the specialists on nuclear energy are also trained in domestic universities as: Universities of Natural Science in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city, Universities of Technology in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh city, and Da Lat University.
The plan also mentions a priority to send for training Ninh Thuan local students who desire to work in long term in Ninh Thuan NPPs.
