Doosan attends the 6th annual medical service at Quang Ngai province

 - On July 10th, 2014, at Dung Quat Economic Zone, Quang Ngai, Vietnam, Doosan Heavy Industries Vietnam (Doosan Vina) in collaboration with Chung Ang University Hospital (CAUH) is holding their 6th annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) medical service from July 7th to 12th. Approximately 2,500 residents of six neighboring villages in Quang Ngai province will receive exams treatments and medicine.

The sixth annual medical service involves a group of fourteen doctors and nurses from CAUH plus one hundred twenty Doosan Vina volunteers. The team will check the health of 2,500 elderly and children at two temporary clinics which were set up at the Van Tuong Apartment complex of Doosan Vina and in the Tinh Giang village. Some of the common diseases for the elderly that were treated included: rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure, anemia, sciatica, aches, and bronchitis. The children received treatment for malnutrition and dental problems.

The total cost for this year charitable activities is $165,000 or nearly VND 3.5 billions and is sponsored by Doosan Vina and CAUH.

Deputy Chief of CAUH Medical Clinic, Kim Myung Nam who was also the group leader said: “The living conditions here are still difficult, so they don’t pay much attention to their health. If they have regular exams their health will improve, some diseases such as bronchitis, high blood pressure or dental problems will be detected and treated. We are very happy that so many people took this chance to have their health checked. In the first three days, we have seen nearly 1,650 patients; 150 patients over the plan.”

Since its grand opening in May 2009, Doosan Vina has held multi charitable activities such as: granting scholarship to students of nine Universities nationwide, renovating and donating equipment to schools, giving the nutrient porridge for patients, presenting equipment for hospitals, donating multivitamins to undernourished children and treatment for nearly 15,000 people in Quang Ngai. The total costs for the company’s CSR program is over VND 46 billions.
