EVN considers investment in solar power development

On the basis of comparing, assessing and defining reasonable costs and efficiency of solar power projects to advise the government to issue the policies for supporting solar power and renewable energy power development in Vietnam.
EVN will focus to consider development of a number of solar power projects in the potential localities of the Central Highlands, South Central and Southern regions.
EVN should give priority to choose locations near to or in sphere of its existing power plants, consider to invest the floating solar power projects on the reservoirs, and land funds under the protective and operative belts of hydropower plants to create favorable conditions for the power grid connection, reduce costs for site clearance compensation and limit potential problems on the management and operation staffs when the projects put into operation ...
In the short-term, EVN will study to develop two solar power projects as one on mainland at Tri An Hydropower plant (Dong Nai Province) and a floating one on reservoir of Da Mi Hydropower plant (Binh Thuan Province).
Besides, EVN has also proposed to develop a solar power project with a capacity of 200 MW on an area of 400 ha in Phuoc Thai commune, Ninh Phuoc district, Ninh Thuan province. The project with a total investment of 8.000 billion will be started for construction in 2018 and put into operation in 2019.
