Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister said: In recent years, the Government issued many policies to encourage and attract non-state investment in the electricity industry. Along with the efforts of all sectors and levels, especially with the main role of the EVN, up to now, the national power system has ensured sufficient power supply to meet development needs with a more and more increasing quality and reliability. The total power capacity of Vietnam today has now reached over 53,000 MW (the national power system of Vietnam occupies the 2nd position in Southeast Asia (after Indonesia) and 31 position in the world).
In the recent 15 years, our country put into operation more than 40 power plants with a total capacity of over 20,000 MW. Many projects ensured the progress schedules and quality and brought the great economic benefits for the socio-economic development of the country, including important contributions of power projects with a design output of about 30.6 billion kWh per year in Binh Thuan province.
“Vinh Tan 4 TPP is a key and urgent project with a total investment level of more than 36,000 billion VND and a capacity of 1,200 MW (2x600MW), using the modern technology with the supercritical steam parameters, the technology has been widely applied in the world due to the high efficiency, reasonable costs and ensuring the environmental protection requirements. The Vinh Tan 4 TPP has a high localization rate as 26% and is considered one of the top quality thermal power plants in Vietnam, meeting very well the requirements on environmental protection” – Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

On behalf of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister praised Vietnam Electricity, EVN Genco3, Vinh Tan Thermal Power Project Management Board, Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 3 and EPC General Contractor, the units tried best to actively deploy the project with ensuring the progress schedule and put the project into operation for nearly 3 months earlier than the plan.
The Deputy Prime Minister also sent the thanks to the Korean Government, the Japanese Government and international credit institutions for providing preferential credit sources for power projects in Vietnam.
