Inauguration of Son Tra 1 Hydropower Plant

Son Tra 1 hydropower plant is the second largest hydropower project in Quang Ngai province, developed in Son Lap commune (Son Tay district) and Son Ky commune (Son Ha district) with a total investment capital of 2,145 billion VND.
Son Tra 1 includes Son Tra 1A and Son Tra 1B with a total capacity of 60 MW (30 MW each) and an annual average generation of 220 million kWh.
According to Quang Ngai 30/4 JSC, to complete the project, the construction unit had to dig 1.2 million m3 of soil and rock; using nearly 180 thousand m3 of reinforced concrete; 1,600 tons of hydro-mechanical equipment and 2,500 tons of electro-mechanical equipment.
In particular, for the project, it was to dig a water tunnel with the total length (including main tunnel and auxiliary tunnel) of 7,732m. The main equipment of the project has been supplied by Voith Hydro contractor (India).
With an annual average output of 220 million kWh, the project can earn a turnover of 268 billion VND per year and contribute to provincial budget 55 billion VND per year.
