Starting up coal exploitation with a deep level below -220 at Binh Minh Mine

At the ceremony, Mr. Pham Duy Hung - Acting Director of Hon Gai Coal Company reported on the project implementation process. Accordingly to report, with the attention direction, and facilitation of the Government, ministries, agencies, and Quang Ninh province, the close and drastic direction of Vinacomin and the positivity of Hon Gai Company, the project has been licensed for mining by the Ministry of Resources and Environment (in Mining License No. 369 /GP-BTNMT dated October 3, 2023).

The project "Mining with a deep level below -220 at Binh Minh mine "has a total investment of 1,100 billion VND, a raw coal reserve of over 9 million tons and a capacity of 500,000 tons/year, exploitation for 21 years with an exploitation level -220 ÷ -350. The tunnel system opens the seam from the industrial yard level +25 with a sloping well to level -350 and a sloping angle of 23 degrees, The sub-well length is 970 m, the excavation cross section is 13 m2 from level -220, and underground excavation down to -350 with sloping angle of 16 degrees, excavation cross-section of 16 m2 and length of 540 m. At the foot of the axillary well at level -350, digging the tunnel station system through the seam at level -350 and the intermediate upper pairs to open the seam for two breakages including breakages 5.1 and 5.2. The total kiln will be 7,334 meters.

Mr. Pham Duy Hung said that with the policy of promoting "Mechanization, automation, computerization", the building underground mines with the criteria of "Green, clean, modern mines, few people, high output" of Vinacomin, the project to research the maximum application of mechanical technologies (CGH) in digging kilns, exploiting, and transporting coal in the pits and on the ground. The project includes 2 breakages for continuous mining and one breakage with mechanization with a capacity of 300 ÷ 350 thousand tons/year and one breakage with chain frame, output capacity of 200 ÷ 250 thousand tons/year. At the same time, making maximum use of automation conveyor transport technology in the pit and on the ground. Applying modern technology, breakage CGH in underground production will increase labor productivity, improve miners' working conditions, reduce direct labor and effectively use coal resources, and be friendly environmentally, and sustainable development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy - Acting Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the contributions of Vinacomin in general and Hon Gai Coal Company in particular to the socio-economic development of Quang Ninh Province. He emphasized that Quang Ninh Province always accompanies, creates favorable conditions and supports the coal industry to develop production. Quang Ninh province expects that the project "Mining deep level below -220 at Binh Minh mine" will continue to make important contributions to Vinacomin and Quang Ninh's economic growth in the coming time and requested the Vinacomin to direct its units to continue to increase the application of CGH in production, improve environmental protection, and ensure harmonious and sustainable development goals. Hon Gai Coal Company strictly implements the instructions of the central government, the province and Vinacomin in the production process, soon putting the project into operation, ensuring safety and efficiency.

Congratulating Hon Gai Coal Company on starting up the project "Mining deep level below -220 at Binh Minh mine", Mr. Dang Than Hai - General Director of the Vinacomin emphasized that, this is an important project in production, stabilizing jobs for Hon Gai Coal workers, as well as increasing production and meeting coal requirements for Vinacomin economy under the direction of the Government. The General Director expressed his sincere thanks to the Government, ministries, agencies, Quang Ninh province and Ha Long City for their attention, and direction and for creating conditions for the project to be licensed soon, and he highly appreciated the efforts of Hon Gai Coal Company, who actively implemented and started up the project.

In order for the project to be completed and put into production, ensuring progress and quality, it requires Hon Gai Coal Company's very high determination and great efforts in the coming time, the Vinacomin General Director recommended that Hon Gai Coal Co, the construction contractor to rapidly implement the project, comply with legal regulations and ensure the set schedule and quality. On the other hand, ensures security, safety, and environment during the construction process and soon puts the project into operation and exploitation, stabilizes production, and contributes to the Vinacomin overall output.

Implementing the Prime Minister's direction on ensuring the production, supply and meet the coal for the economy, especially coal for thermal power, in recent years Vinacomin has made efforts to promote production and increase output, providing enough coal for the country, successfully completing assigned tasks. Along with that, Vinacomin paid special attention to promoting investment and development of mining projects to increase output, stabilize long-term production, and ensure jobs and life for workers.

Previously, on August 5, 2023, the project "Renovating and expanding to increase the capacity of Cao Son coal mine" had a total investment of 1,829 billion VND, a mining capacity of 4.5 million tons of raw coal/year with reserves. 51.9 million tons of coal mining has been started.

The project "Mining deep level below -220 level at Binh Minh mine" of Hon Gai Coal Company is one of Vinacomin's key projects with a particularly important meaning to increase the coal mining output of Vinacomin, contributing to greatly the socio-economic development of the province's and the country while creating jobs for thousands of workers.

In the coming time, Vinacomin will continue to promote the implementation of mine development projects such as the Ha Rang pit mine project (Hon Gai coal), and Tan Yen mine (Uong Bi coal)... to increase output in the coming years, meeting coal for the economy and development requirements of the Vinacomin.
