Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Hai Binh, Deputy General Director of Vinacomin, emphasized that over the past 24 years, Vietnam’s coal industry, particularly Vinacomin, has received significant support and effective cooperation from the Japanese government, organizations, and enterprises in the fields of science, technology, and training. A hallmark of this cooperation is the collaboration between Vinacomin, JOGMEC (Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation), and Kushiro Coal Mine Co., Ltd., through two major initiatives:
-
Training in coal mining and safety technologies
-
Cooperation in geological survey and exploration
The “Training in coal mining and safety technologies” project has played a pivotal role in improving production capabilities and safety management across Vietnamese coal mines. This has been achieved through training programs for Vinacomin’s engineers and workers conducted in Japan and Vietnam.
As of the end of 2024, more than 2,200 Vinacomin trainees have been sent to Kushiro City in Japan for study and hands-on training. Every year, JOGMEC and Kushiro Coal Mine Co., Ltd. dispatch experts and advanced mining equipment to Vietnam to provide direct instruction and technology transfer to Vinacomin’s workforce. To date, these programs have trained over 160,000 Vietnamese personnel.
Mr. Yoichi Murakami, Executive Director of Kushiro Coal Mine Co., Ltd., expressed his gratitude for the continued support and collaboration of Vinacomin, Ha Long Coal Company, and Ha Lam Coal Joint Stock Company. He also voiced his hope for even closer cooperation in the future to ensure the effective implementation of the joint training agreement.
