T&T and US partner cooperate to develop wind and solar power projects in Vietnam

 - Within the framework of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc's working trip to the United States, T&T group (Vietnam) and UPC Renewables (USA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation to develop wind power (onshore, near-shore) and solar power projects with a total capacity of about 1,500 MW and a total investment of about US& 2.5 billion in Ninh Thuan, Dak Nong, Dak Nong, Soc Trang, Ben Tre and Bac Lieu provinces.

PC is known as the world's leading developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy projects with more than 20 years of experience in vanguard developing wind and solar projects.

In recent years, UPC invested and put into operation wind and solar power projects with a total installed capacity of more than 3,500 MW and a total investment of over US$ 5 billion, and is planning to develop up to more than 5,000 MW.

For successful deploying the renewable energy (RE) projects In Vietnam, UPC needs to cooperate with a local potential partner that is suitable with it on the long-term vision and target. And Vietnam T&T satisfies UPC requirements.

In 10 coming years, the T&T group should invest in LNG power and RE projects with a total capacity of up to 10,000 – 11,000 MW (equal to 8% of the total capacity of the whole Vietnam national power system).

Previously, on September 9, 2021, within the framework of the official visit to Belgium Kingdom of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, T&T Group and Orsted - the world's leading sustainable energy company signed the MoU on strategic cooperation in developing offshore wind power projects with a total capacity of 10,000 MW and a total investment of US$ 30 billion (in a period of 20 years) in Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan provinces of Vietnam.
