Doosan Vina to deliver two largest RMQC cranes to Gemalink International Port in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province

 - July 2nd, 2020, Doosan Vina to deliver two largest RMQC cranes to Gemalink International Port in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, these first two Rail Mounted Quayside Cranes (RMQCs) out of six units of the Gemalink project, which can load and unload 65-ton cargo containers from the largest mother vessels safely and quickly, are supplied to the Gemadept – CMA CGM for commercial operation in Gemalink International Port in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

Manufacturing the order of six super-heavy RMQCs for the Gemadept – CMA CGM in September 2019, Doosan Vina completed and held a shipment ceremony of the first two units to the Gemalink International Port located in Tan Thanh district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province after nearly a year of production.

Attending the ceremony on July 2nd, 2020 were Director of Department of Industry and Trade Vo Dinh Tra, Chief Office of Dung Quat Economic Zone and Quang Ngai Industrial Zones, Huynh Van Gioi, Doosan Vina’s CEO Jeong Young Chil and representatives and VIPs from the Quang Ngai People's Committee, Dung Quat Economic Zone Management Board, customers, partners, local press agencies and Doosan Vina's leaders and employees.

At the ceremony, Director of Department of Industry and Trade Vo Dinh Tra showed his impression on the Doosan Vina's huge RMQCs and appreciated the efforts of the company’s Korean leaders as well as the Vietnamese employees.

Since its establishment in 2006, Doosan Vina has made significant contributions to the socio-economic development of Quang Ngai province through job creation and stable income generation for thousands of local people. Besides, with Doosan Vina's exported products to 35 countries worldwide, it has helped increase the export turnover for the province and enhance Quang Ngai’s reputation further and wider.

According to Doosan Vina’s CEO Jeong Young Chil, this is the largest series of cranes that Doosan Vina has ever produced. They are as high as a 30-stories building (93m), 150m long, 27m wide, over 1,700 tons in weight. Their outreach is 70m or equivalent to 24 container rows and can handle cargo containers of up to 65 tons from the largest mother vessels up to 200,000 DWT.

“Currently, we are focusing on completing units 3 and 4 to catch up with the handover schedule in coming August. The project is expected to complete in November 2020. Once these 6 cranes are put into commercial operation, they will ensure the first phase loading and unloading capacity of Gemalink port of more than 1.5 million TEU per year”, the CEO of Doosan Vina said.

Gemalink is a big domestic project that Doosan Vina signed with Gemadept – CMA CGM on May 17, 2019 to supply six full packages RMQCs from design, fabrication, erection to test run.

These cranes are as tall as a 30-storey building, weighs over 1,700 tons, have a reach of up to 70m (equivalent to 24 container rows) and are capable of loading and unloading of up to 65 tons from the largest mother vessels up to 200,000 DWT.

After leaving Doosan Vina’s port on July 4, the two cranes are expected to arrive at Gemalink International Port on July 6 and will go under a final inspection again before being put into commercial operation to help Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port cluster raise its capacity significantly.

The successful export of these 2 cranes has increased the total number of "Made in Vietnam" cranes by Doosan Vina to 85 cranes. The cranes are now working hard in the world's busiest port systems such as PSA (Singapore), JNPT and BMCT (India), Samarinda (Indonesia), Saudi Global Port (Saudi Arabia). In Vietnam, Doosan Vina's cranes have been presented in Saigon New Port, Da Nang Port, Nghi Son Refinery Port and will be put in Gemalink port (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) in the next few days.
