EMA wishes to coordinate with EVN for deploying the grid connection

 - On June 6, in Hanoi, Mr. Ngiam Shih Chun - Executive Director of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority of Singapore (EMA) had a meeting with Electricity of Vietnam (EVN). At the meeting, Mr. Ngiam Shih Chun said that EMA wishes to coordinate with EVN to deploy the grid connection to improve the power supply reliability in Vietnam and Singapore.

EMA established in 2001, is an agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Singapore. A number of the main tasks of EMJA are operating the power system, regulating the electricity and gas sectors, and contributing to the development of Singapore's industry through promoting capacity building of human resources.

The meeting between EVN and EMA aimed to continue the contents of energy cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore after the official visit of the President of Vietnam to Singapore (February 2022).

Mr. Ngam Shih Chun said that EMA wishes to coordinate with EVN for the grid connection with the goal of improving the power supply reliability in Vietnam and Singapore. This cooperation not only contributes to ensuring energy security but also brings economic efficiency to the energy industries of the two countries.

Exchanging the possibility of grid integration, and electricity trading across borders of the two countries, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh – EVN Chairman said that EVN would implement in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the Vietnamese Government. EVN also will deploy the grid connection with the technical factors.

At the meeting, the two sides also spent a lot of time exchanging information on the operation of the electricity market in Singapore as well as the human resource training in grid connection that EMA will support EVN.

The two sides agreed on the proposal to expand cooperation in the near future, opening up opportunities for developing green and sustainable energy between Singapore and Vietnam in accordance with the orientation of the two Governments.
