Starting out construction of the 500kV Transformer Substation Pleiku 2

The project of 500kV TS Pleiku2 has a total investment of over VND 1,270 million, invested by EVN NPT and managed by the Central Power Management Board (CPMB) on behalf of EVN NPT.

This project includes eight 500kV feeders, three sets of 500kV series capacitors, three 500kV shunt reactors, a reserve area for two 500/220kV- 450MVA transformers and twelve 220kV feeders. For the first stage, it is required to install equipment system for 500kV distribution yard with 04 feeders, 03 series capacitor sets and 03 shunt reactors

At Cau Bong 500kV TS, there are 01 feeder extended and 02 series capacitor sets installed.

The transmission lines necessary to construct for connecting the 500kV substations Pleiku-My Phuoc-Cau Bong are: i) 02  almost parallel double circuit 500kV sections with a 3,020m total length for transit connection of 500kV two circuits Pleiku-My Phuoc-Cau Bong to 500kV substation Pleiku 2, ii) 01 single circuit 500kV section with a 540m length from the last tower of Thach My-Pleiku 500kV line to tower number 0101B of  Pleiku-My Phuoc-Cau Bong 500kV line.

The 500kV transformer substation Pleiku 2 is built with an aim for ensuring safe and reliable operation of North - Central - South 500kV transmission system, enhancing  transmission ability of Pleiku - My Phuoc - Cau Bong double circuit 500 kV line through the installation of series capacitor sets at Cau Bong and Pleiku 500kV transformer substations.

Besides, the Pleiku 2 TS will still have a meaning to reduce the break-down danger of and operation pressure on the existing Pleiku 500kV substation, and at the same time to prepare the transmission grid for receiving power capacity from Laos into Vietnam in coming time.

As planned, the project will be completed and put into operation in the first quarter of 2016
