Starting up construction of the Monsoon - Thanh My 500 kV line (the section on Vietnam territory)

The Monsoon - Thanh My 500 kV line project was approved by the Prime Minister for the policy of importing electricity with the connection plan with the Monsoon Wind Power Project (Laos) in document No. 938/TTg-CN dated July 21, 2020 and Decision No. 500/QD-TTg dated May 15, 2023 of the Prime Minister.

The Monsoon - Thanh My 500 kV line project (the section on Vietnamese territory) is a double circuit, constructed in Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province with a length of about 44.71 km and connects Monsoon group of the wind power projects (in Laos) to Thanh My 500 kV transformer station. The project was assigned by the Vietnam Prime Minister to EVN as the investor, and the Power Project Management Board 2 as the EVN unit will be representative of the Investor.
The total project investment is more than 1,100 billion VND, arranged by credit loans from the Agriculture and Rural Development Bank (Agribank) and counterpart capital from EVN.
The Monsoon - Thanh My 500 kV line project is completed and put into operation, it will be able to transmit a maximum capacity of about 2,500 MW, contributing to improving the operating capacity of the national power system through the Import of electricity from Laos.
However, according to the immediate power purchase agreement, the line will be imported from Laos with a capacity of 600 MW and an expected average annual electricity output of about 1.7 billion kWh.
The construction of the Monsoon - Thanh My 500 kV line project has realized the bilateral commitment to cooperation between the Governments of Vietnam and Laos in the development of energy systems.
With the purpose of putting the project into operation soon with guaranteed quality to increase electricity supply to serve the country's economic and social development in the coming period, EVN requests Power Project Management Board 2, the Consulting units, supervisors, contractors, officers and workers on the construction site to unite, respond and well implement the creative labor emulation movement and successfully complete progress goals, quality, and ensure the environment and labor safety in construction.
